Hello all,

I have been recently diagnosed with a bronchiectasis in my lower right

lobe. Before the lung problems began I had a series of sinus

infections for about one year. Prior to all over this I had only been

on anti-biotics as an infant for ear infections. I continually told my

doctors that I found it strange that all of a sudden, at the age of 27

I was having all these symptoms but they refused to test me for

anything and just gave me anti-biotics.

Turns out I have several seperate problems but they have since

diagnosed me with severe reflux which they say can cause

bronchiectasis and sinusitis. I never felt heartburn symtoms but the

barium ex-ray came back positive.

The pulmonologist that I'm seeing now hasn't given me any instruction

on what I can do to make my symptoms (cough with sputum, sometimes

with blood) better. He also keeps saying that the bronchiectasis is

very slight so he's surprised by the amount of mucus I have. Blood

tests show that I do not have Cystic Fibrosis or the genetic form of

emphasyma.

Do any of you have the same reflux diagnosis? How about having a

slight bronchiectasis but worse than expected symptoms? Should I be

concerned about it getting worse?

I think I will get a second opinion soon if my insurance allows me too

but for the time being I could really use some guidance.

Thanks

Mara
