Hi MontyMan's mom, Donna,

How did it go?

CONGRATULATIONS! MontyMan, SENIOR 2004!

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Lots of hugs to you and MontyMan!

Prayers on the next hurdle that all may go well.

I hope he adapts to life changes when they occur with the after

graduation. I'm glad High school was a good turn out for him and

vice versa with the school he attended.

I just recently read an article called " THE GROOVE " by Dennis

McGuire,Ph.D.

" One of the most interesting and consistent findings from the Adult

Down syndrome Center is the discovery that people with DS need

sameness, repetition and order in their lives. We call this tendency

the " groove, " because their thoughts and actions tend to follow

fairly worn paths, or grooves. "

The article continues with a break down of types of Grooves but I

wrote just a wee piece of it above. I wonder how MontyMan's groove

will be to succeed with his on-going journey? There is an old

saying, " Variety is the spice of life. " Keep us posted on the " what

next? "

Hugs!

Irma,15,DS/ASD

a,

Montyman and I went to my grandson's baseball game the other night, and

Montyman's Teacher was there, as her son is on C.J.'s team! Monty just assumes

the whole world was created for him, ya know. He was glad to see her, but didnt

want ME there! It was funny, because when I went to the school, he let me know

that I didnt belong there, either! At the game, the kid's knew him, and he went

and sat down behind the dug out. The kid's were all so interested in talking to

Monty, that the coach had to come in twice and remind them that the game was

being played 'out there'!....I thought I had better move MontyMan but he wouldnt

budge. And at 175 pounds, once he plants himself, I am powerless to make him

move! He let me know he didnt want me around, so I went to the bleachers with

the mom's and just watched him from a distance. He was THRILLED to see his

Teacher, Ms.Windy, there!! But every time I walked up, he barked at me and

pushed me away! Jeese, I COULD get my feelings hurt, if I didnt know him so

well! I didnt belong there, because the last two games, my daughter took him.

Game time, ya know, is like School time, with the kid's, and MOM doesnt belong

there, how embarassing! LOL!!

The Turkey wouldnt budge till the game was over.

Anyway, I am glad, he will be able to continue seeing some of the people who

have been in his life for the past 5 years. Ms. has had him in her

classroom for 5 years!!! He grew up with her.!!!

We live in a small community, so I am sure we will be in touch with

everyone! Nice, huh?

Donna, Montyman's Mom
