Guest guest
Cheryl--do you always have IV AB's when you get an infection --do none of the oral ones work now--just curious--one of the pulmonary guys i saw says when he gets someone with frequent infections he often puts them on a low dose oral Ciproxin for 6 months --I was resistant to doing this myself at this time as though my chest is chronically infected i cough up little and am generally fairly well --the frequent blood worries me but not in huge quantities thank God --one of my friends with resistant bugs and recurrent infection has been placed on IV Ceftriaxone for 4 weeks which is a long therapy --so many plans of attack it seems---hope the book writing is going well ---take care---Del
Guest guest
Hi Del, My respiratory specialist generally goes for Ciproxin 500g (? not sure about strength, but it’s the strongest one) for two weeks, and if that doesn’t work, does the IV’s – then another two weeks of orals. In the past, I’ve have had a month of oral AB’s, but not just Ciproxin, another strong AB as well. If the infection is bad, oral AB’s generally won’t work. It’s to do with the immune deficiency. I did have over six months on anti’s at one stage, but it wasn’t Ciproxin. Can’t remember what it was, but it did literally nothing for me, so they were discontinued. My system has become immuned to a lot of the AB’s unfortunately, that’s why I rejoice when I’m off them for so long. Of course, just being off them is wonderful anyway! I’m working hard on my next book, but feel like I’m getting nowhere fast. My mother is getting married in five weeks, and I’m doing a lot of the organising. It’s hard juggling writing, promotions, and organising a wedding. Not to mentioned organising children and men as well. Lol I’m sure I’ll get there eventually.
