Joanne,

With DDD in Washington there is no such thing as qualified for life. I was

told that by my DDD case worker when was reevaluated in elem. School,

only to find out later that was kicked out of the system because we

did not reapply at the three year interval. They sent one letter that was

apparently lost and that was it. Because we have never received services, I

had no other notice. I just got her back into the system and so now, even

though has lived in the Socialist State of Washington all her life,

she is at the bottom of the waiting list for services. (No. 2783! at last

check)

It is doubtful that she will receive any services whatsoever from this State

until she turns 18. I have appealed but haven¹t heard anything on it.

Don¹t believe them when they say your child is qualified for life. Make

sure to always check that your son¹s DDD case no. is active and know exactly

when he is due for a reevaluation.

Hi Therese,

thank for the warning, I'm so sorry to hear that was kicked out of the

system, it's one of my worst fears. I was saying " qualified for life " tongue

in cheek - I don't trust my case worker for all the tea in China. I had to ride

him hard recently, has to qualify every year for his Medicaid services and

in my book that was due last August. He was adamant it wasn't until October and

I couldn't get him out here until last month. I had to threaten to call his

supervisor to have him call me back and book the appointment. Then he assured

me we would get all the paperwork signed before the end of March to keep

on the old Waiver program. The day before the end of the month, I panicked when

I realized he had done it again. I made him come out with the paperwork after

he had finished his work day on the 31st... can't trust them as far as you can

throw them!!

Thanks again, I appreciate your taking the time to warn me.

Yes Therese...same thing happened to us for medical assistance. I was at

the beach and was sent a notice to come for an appt. to be re-evaluated for MA.

When I didn't make the meeting, I was immediately dropped....I said to the

woman, " EXCUSE ME, but how can I come to an appt I don't know about because I'm

away and Maddie's card be cancelled before I even get home? " (I was gone one

lousy week BTW...they sure can be quick when they want to). I too, have

to re-instate her, which is just a nightmare in a big city like Philly. BUT I

will do it.

Hi Donna,

That waiver is a big pain in Ct too. I apparently didn't fill out the

paperwork properly even though the DMR worker did most of it. I was sent a

registered

letter that I was being investigated for fraud. Zeb did qualify but after

spending time on the phone and copying paperwork to justify everything so I

wouldn't be arrested or whatever they do I told them to keep it. I didn't need

anyone reminding me that I was the legally liable relative like I didn't support

this child. I say no thankyou to anything that is offered. It's not worth it to

me.
