Guest guest
Hi Lyn, I have just started this process. DDD came out and they are restructuring our Family Support money to some sort of waiver program. (This isn't as good for us as all the money that I would spend on disability related stuff like Boardmaker, books, equipment etc. won't be covered) But the DDD lady did suggest that Hannah could get diapers with her Medicaid coupon. The company I called was Shield Healthcare, they are nationwide and you give them your child's SS#, Doc phone # , stuff off your coupon, insurance if you have any and they take care of the rest. Here is the number 1-. They are supposed to be great on customer service. Maybe they can figure it out for you. Good Luck! a
Guest guest
Lyn, Seth is on the Medicaid waiver program here in NY and they pay for diapers for any qualifying child over the age of three. I just order Good Nites at our local drug store. We get a months supply at a time. (238 per month) Other funding for diapers is through our local ARC group. I get my Wet Wipes through them. Good luck, Gail :-) Could any of you here who have a child in diapers share with me how you manage to get diapers paid for through what sources? I have tried to request they be provided thru my son's Medicaid, they decline citing that the wavier (here in FL) is responsible for paying for them. We are on a VERY long waiting list. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help on this. Sincerely, Lyn

They cover diapers as well as all our co-pays on meds (although as I said before, we've been dropped and I have to go through the entire procedure again....YUK). If you're on a waiting list, maybe you could try getting them covered somewhere else? Are you registered with your local ARC? Maybe they have some type of program...here we have something called FDSS under the ARC and I get monies from them every year. Also, see if your health insurance might cover it until you are able to get them through your waiver program. Also, try routes like VAriety Club and Easter Seals. I know they do equipment type stuff....maybe that'd be worth checking out. Donna

Guest guest
oh I forgot to mention nathan's medicaid does buy the pull ups use to be diapers, but we rarely even use to pull ups now, anyways he gets his medicaid through the state MR waiver, which kicks in for anything after our bcbs. shawna Re: diapers Lyn, Seth is on the Medicaid waiver program here in NY and they pay for diapers for any qualifying child over the age of three.
