Vatican on Easter Sunday? Yep, that's cool! How nice you are able to do

this while you all can go. Well, cept Maddie. Hey, I'm leaving Seth to take

girls to Disney again and I don't feel bad about it at all. Such a bad Mom I

am!

LOL Seth wouldn't enjoy it, hence, neither would the rest of us. Don't

feel bad Donna.....to have such a spontaneous, loving husband and the chance to

do this with all the other kids is wonderful. Go and enjoy and I'm sure you

feel that Maddie will be in very good hands while you are gone. Sailing or

flying?

Gail :-)

Hey Gang,

Well, we are going to Italy on the 10th of April. Coming home on the

19th. The kids are SO excited!!!! It's spur of the moment....sometimes

it's not great being married to Mr. Spontaneous, especially when you have

five

kids, two of whom need passports...LOL Anyway, we just realized that our

third

is going off to college and it's now or never. So we'll be in Vatican City

on Easter Sunday...cool, eh? We're planning on Rome and Venice with maybe a

short visit to Florence.

The BAD part is Maddie is staying home. There's no way she can do

this. I am REALLY having a difficult time...but what can I do. It's a long

time

to be away from her....it's hard. I've arranged for Jen, the teacher at

her school, to watch her. Maddie LOVES Jen and Jen adores her, so I feel

good

about that part. And Duff's sisters will be around to give Jen and Suzanne

(her friend) Maddie breaks. No doubt she'll give me the cold shoulder for

quite some time when I get back....;-)

Oh, flying for sure. And you're right...it would only be torture for

Maddie, Gail. She is home from school today (throwing up yesterday...better

today, but had me and Duff up til 2:00) so we had to bring her down to the

customs

house with us to get passports for Duff, n and Allie (Duff's went

through the washer...LOL). She got FRISKED!!!!! LOLOLOL Allie says,

" Mom,

what? Do they think we'd put a bomb in her pockets? " LOLOL

Hi Donna,

Have a wonderful safe trip and try to enjoy it. I'm glad Maddie will

be in good hands while you're gone. Before you know it, time flies

by fast and you'll be back. You'll have beautiful memories with your

other kids plus w/Duff and what a better place for this sacrifice.

Ok, now for my request on what I would like out there for souvenir.

Want my list? Just kidding.

Many hugs!

Bob and I use our respite time for a 10 day winter hiatus. This year we

went to Scotland - without children . We stayed so far up in the highlands

that phones only worked intermittantly! But we were found once - to tell us

the smokedetector wentoff and we didn't leave the code. Drove my children

with sound issues to the whimper stage before we were finally called.

What did we learn?? Leave codes even if we don't set the system before we

leave. We didn't want the alarm system set but forgot (assuming we even

thought about it) that the fire alarm system cannot be turned off. Our

respite angel was cooking bacon and set off over an hour of 115 decibal

sirens - two fire departments responded and 2 police departments.

But the kids survived our absence and we certainly survived being without

them!! ENJOY every minute with your big kids>>

LOL Sara. We have the same system. I came home from church a couple weeks

ago to find firemen at our house too....Duff burned something on the stovetop.

Scotland? Must have been fabulous!!!!

It's a lot of planning but I think once I get there, I'll relax.

Thanks for the well wishes Sara.
