Dee Dee,

Wow, have a great time and I hope you get the passes. We're going there in

May, but I'm leaving Seth home, so don't need the pass. I don't remember the

outcome of if they have the passes now or not. Sorry,

Gail :-)

Hi all, Not long ago everyone was talking about those passes for our

special kids to go to front of the line at theme parks. I had never heard of

such a

thing before then, but at the same time didn't really think I would ever need

one since there was not much chance of us going to Disney World. Well, never

say never!

Hey Dee Dee,

They are still issuing the pass. However, it's not that they let you in

front of the line; it's that your STROLLER is treated as a wheelchair. Many

exhibits actually have a separate *handicapped* line....that's the one they

would let you go through. You do not need a doctor's note. When you first

go through the gates of the Magic Kingdom, turn to the left and go in the main

office. I think it's called *city hall* That's where they issue you the

pass.

Have fun!!!!

Dee Dee, how cool!!! You are bringing back fond memories for me. YEARS

ago when we only had three kids (Gosh, n, now 18 was only 6 months old),

we did the same thing with my parents. My Dad got a winebago and we drove

too (the year before we went to Canada with them in it). It was SUCH a great

trip!!!! Duff and my Dad took turns driving (not me, that sucker was a

monstrosity). My brother who lives in Chicago flew in for the weekend and we

all

stayed in it. Matter of fact, one night, me, my mom and the kids were just

pooped out, so my Dad, Duff and my bro went into Epcot for the night while we

stayed in the winebago........RIGHT IN THE PARKING LOT OF DW!!!!!! We put

on our pj's, made some pizza in the oven, put the kids to bed, popped on the tv

and opened a couple beers!!! Was very very cool!!!!!

You'll have a BLAST!!!! Both my parents are gone now; thanks for the

memory!!!

I live in San Diego. I have a cousin who lives in northern CA that has

a son with autism. When they went to disneyland, they got a special

pass for head of the line privileges. I think if when go into the park,

right at the front they have some sort of customer service area. if you

go there and ask...

We've been to Disneyland a few times with . But, we've never

asked for a pass. We have a Dad that has a shorter tolerance for crowds

and lines. So we tried to do other stuff. We also stayed at the hotel

there so that we could take breaks and nap. That helps.

Have a wonderful trip. Good luck. Somtimes these things are more work

....

Oh sorry, forgot to answer this. No you won't need a note. You can bring

one if it makes you feel more secure, but you don't need it. Someone on the

DS listserv just posted a notice from DW saying you did not need one.

DeDee-

We took Nicolas to Disneyland yesterday for his birthday. I was

expecting problems getting a special assistance pass, but I'm happy to

report I had no problems at all. I'm assuming it's the same at Disney

World. You go to City Hall first, explain why you need a special

assistance pass, and they give you one for the child, plus up to five

more people in your party. For us, we explained that Nicolas will push

and hit and struggle if he's in the regular line. We also asked to use

his stroller as a wheelchair so in most cases we could wheel him up to

the ride, board it, and then take him off and put him right in his

stroller. It was a godsend for us because usually he struggles the

whole way off the ride (he wants to ride it again). At City Hall,

though, I did notice other children who didn't have strollers. They

also didn't seem to have any problems getting passes. I think Disney is

seriously trying to crack down on the people who are abusing the system.

It seems to me that if you have a legitimate reason, they'll give you a

special assistance pass. It's not actually a front of the line pass.

You use it to get in the disabled or wheelchair entrance. Sometimes

there's a line at that entrance, too. I would definitely take advantage

of this service, though. It's there for people like our kids, and it

really does help.

Have a great time!

Thank you everyone for helping with this info! We are sooo excited! My parents

recently bought one of those huge RV's so it should be a fun trip! I have never

been to any of the Disney parks, so I am just as excited as the kids are. Well,

doesn't really know yet, but I sure hope he does well there! I know there

will be times of anxiety, but he has gotten so much better than he used to be in

places like this. there was a time that I would not have even considered taking

him. His stroller actually IS a wheelchair - it looks like a stroller at

glance, but the frame is much sturdier. I had to buy it at a wheelchair store

because at 70 lbs now strollers were not strong enough to support him anymore

and wagons are a pain in the butt to pull around! I am so glad that we will be

able to get a pass - this will make things so much easier!

There will be exactly 5 of us plus him so that will work out great. So I won't

need a dr.'s note?

anyway, thanks again everyone for helping! now can someone tell me how to put

my listserv off for the week so I don't come home to a zillion messeges?

keep up with it all!

I just got back last week and we had a wonderful time. When you go into the

Magic Kingdom (that's where we went) you just go to " City Hall " Guest Services

and I picked up my pass without any troubles. Its good for up to 6 people to

go to the exit line of pretty much each ride. I would just find a worker and

show my pass for each ride. The kids really had a great time and it definitely

beated the 60 - 90 minute wait times for most rides/events!

Have a great time!

Hi DeDee,

I live close enough to DisneyWorld to hear the fireworks every night. We

haven't had trouble getting a " Guest Assistance Card " at Disney. They have

different levels of assistance depending on the need of the guest. When

was younger, we needed the " stroller as wheelchair " pass. That was

a lifesaver, especially with multiples. Now we get the " let the guest use

the disability entrance, non-mainsteam entrance or fast pass return queue. "

A lot depends on the host you happen to get at guest services. Some were

soooo accomodating; with others I had to get assertive. Now I just keep

the pass and bring it to guest services and turn it in for one with valid

dates. One word of advice, we are at the height of allergy season.

Everything is blooming so if anyone in your travel group has allergies, plan

accordingly.
