I personally have a hyperactive thyroid. It is the by-product of an auto-immune

disease that messes with my thyroid function. Does Isabella eat a lot and stay

underweight or normal weight? Does she get fatigued easily?

Subject: Thryoid question

Hi all,

Isabellla is 4 1/2 years old.  She just had a blood test and her thyroid came

back high.  I know that usually this is very rare in children of this age.

Have any of you experienced this?  Please say a prayer that the lab made a

mistake.

How high is high? What numberand for which one T4 or TSH? (Was a complete

thyroid panel done or just T3, T4 and TSH? Oftentimes a full thyroid panel needs

to be done to get a complete picture.)

P.S. Illness (like viral illness) can cause an elevated TSH. his is transient

and should resume to normal limits once the virus is gone. I mention this

because it is cold season and we personally have had this ahppen. Further

investigation showed that his TSH went back down when he got well. Is she sick?)

It's very common for children with DS to take a Thyroid replacement. It's a tiny

pill, crush it up & mix w/ her applesauce or juice for breakfast.
