Irma,15,Ds/asd Irma, I didn't know that! Everyone thinks that Seth is sick when his cheeks are red. Never acts sick or runs a temp. Okay, any info on orange hands and feet? LOL I'm wondering if it's from all the V-8 juice Seth drinks, but looking back, they were orange before he started drinking V-8. Guest guest
My son Ethan use to live on carrots and sweet potatoes. He had an orange tint to him. I was told by a professional (I am pretty sure it was our genetist) that people with Down Syndrome are more susceptible to the " oranging " effect of the beta carotene. Is his diet rich in the orange colored foods? Just a thought. ne mom to Lena 7/ADHD, Ethan 5/DS-PDD and Caleb 1/the " normal " one giving me grey hair Re: Re: red cheeks In a message dated 1/20/2004 2:26:05 PM Eastern Standard Time, ICANFIELD@... writes: The red cheek is common on some kids with DS, Aquaphor by Eucerin has been a great healing ointment too for it. Guest guest
Donna, OH YUCK!!! I have just started Curves last week. Getting into the diet this week. You would be surprised how small a 6.5 carbs serving of Gorilla Munch is!!! But I can have a whole salad that doesn't count--just no dressing :-D On Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at 12:15 PM, duffey48@... wrote: > Oh yea, ok, I like some veggies for comfort food.......creamed spinach, > broccoli smothered in cheese, creamed brussel sprouts....;-) > Donna > > •
Guest guest
Hi , Scratch one out of the possible list. Sugar, dairy and gluten would be next on the list but hope you find some answers. I'm glad that Noah seems pretty healthy, lets not jinx it, right? That is great. Good luck with the Nutrivene research & for a therapist. Nutrivene was not for my son and I ended up tossing it in the wastebasket. That was an ouch in our pocket book as it could be pretty expensive. What did not work for my son, though might help Noah. Just make sure if any other vitamin are given that it does not contain sugar, artificial flavor, artificial coloring, etc. has been doing wonderful with the ABA Therapy. Today I found out about of a gentleman that has the reputation of working with kids who have Downs, he is a behavior analyst and works at a private school in a different city primarily w/Downs kids. He has many years of experience and studied with some of the best behavior analysts. While there are some significant differences in the challenges our ASD kids face, the principles of ABA are valid for teaching children with all types of disabilities (and those without any disability!). Definitely understands the science of ABA. Just one conversation with him and you'll know what he means. He lives, breathes, and talks ABA - he really loves what he does. Which I was told. So I'm on a mission to get a hold of him. The ABA therapist who works with kinda of knows him, so she is going to contact someone that normally speaks to him. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. I'm interested on hearing more on Noah, thanks so much. Where do you live? Irma,Ds/ASD Re: Re: red cheeks Thank you Irma, actually Noah has never experienced a single ear infection. He has been on antibiotics for a total of 5-6 times for colds that have lasted longer than 2 weeks. very healthy little guy. We were thinking on stating Noah on Nutrivene but still trying to research on that . Today we completed our workshop for Noah's home ABA/AVA program. We are really excited because he responded so well. Having lots of trouble finding therapists. One backed out the eve of the workshop and the other today so We now only have one part time person until we can find someone. Thank you for all your support and oodles of information .
