Guest guest
Hi Vi! I live in the Columbus area. Welcome! Please tell us about yourself and your loved one(s). My son Pete (formally known as " Ben " is thirteen going on 19. (Raging hormones and has not been pretty. Oh my!) He is one of the kids that started talking much later, which turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. He is on meds, has a sensory diet, and is in mostly a self-contained classroom that offers him a lot of structure. He has become more sociable too in the past few years. We have lived in Westerville for 19 years now. We have a great pediatrician and see a pediatric dentist who sees kids with special needs. There is a very strong ABA-biased autism group in central Ohio. I am only peripherally connected with them. I mostly use this list for support for DS-autism. There are a few other listers who live in this region but mostly lurk. (You all know who you are! ; P I am meeting more families now through a diocesan parent/family network group and so far I have talked to two families whose kids with DS are likely on the spectrum as well. So- looking forward to hearing from you! Hi Vi, My son is right handed but does switch off occassionally. The OT is probably having difficulty working with him with fine motor issues. I would think she would just work with him one way and let him choose what hand is best for him. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 11 DS/OCD
