Guest guest
Hi Rose Ann, I am new to the site as well and live in the Chicago area (US). I was recently diagnosed with bronch after years of sinus infections. I see another pulm on Monday for a second opinion. I am currently on Advair, Singular, Nasonex, and as of this morning, Prilosec. I have shortness of breath on and off so my pulm thinks I might have heartburn issues. I just began all of these meds recently (with the exception of Nasonex that I have been on for years), yet have always been 'tired.' So, I do not think the meds are necessarily causing your fatigue. One suggestion, if you have sinus issues, is to invest in a Grossan nasal irrigator. It has done a wonderful job of keeping my sinuses clear and rid, most of the time, of heavy mucous. Before my last sinus surgery, I was using the bulb rinse method. I have already been given a lot of information to research by the group. I hope you can find some relief with some ideas shared on this board. I wish you well. wildrose77@... wrote: Hi All:I was just told Monday that I have bronchiectasis! Actually, the doctors have been trying to figure out what is wrong since last September - ran lots of tests looking for even worse things.I'm 69 yo, have lots of medical problems, but for this condition I am taking: Singulair Guaifenesin (to help with mucous) Zyrtec and other antihistamines (for allergies) Flonase (nasal spray) Spiriva Inhaler Foradil Inhaler Albuterol (as needed)I also learned years ago to do saline "washes" of my nose to clear the nose and clear out mucous, too. I use 1/4 teaspoon salt to 1 cup warm water. Then, use a child's ear syringe to wash out both sides of nose, repeatedly. My pulmonologist ran another chest X-ray this week and had me bring in an early morning sputum sample. He also had another blood sample drawn to send to the Mayo Clinic Labs - I don't know what they are looking for this time.My biggest problem seems to be plain old fatigue. Whether that is from this condition or some of the others, I don't know. I'm on so many medications, many of which say they can cause drowziness, that it could be more a case of "all of the above" rather than any single thing. Then, of course, I have a cat, Jewel, who loves to sleep during the daytime and romp at night (and get into mischief at night). I simply cannot afford to hire cleaning help and also cannot keep up with Jewel's fur. She has very fine and dense fur and must have many hundreds of furs growing in each square inch. Nope, I'm not willing to give her up - she gives me such a lift in so many other ways.Oops, my laundry timer has gone off so must go!Talk to you later,Rose Ann from central U.S.A.__________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi, Rose Ann, welcome. I'm 73 yrs old and have been living with this condition almost 20 years. Have you been tested for cat dander? They found out I'm very allergic to it and I was getting shots for many years. If that's your problem also, then maybe an allergist can advise you. -------------- Original message from wildrose77@...: -------------- > Hi All: > > I was just told Monday that I have bronchiectasis! Guest guest
Rose Ann, Welcome to this wonderful, supportive bronch. group. I am 70 and was diagnosed with bronch. five years ago. I think that I had it prior to my diagnosis. My doctors were telling me that my allergies were causing asthma, chronic bronchitis and chronic sinusitis and that after I had sinus surgery, that my respiratory problems would go away. I am also very fatigued. I have other health problems including a heart condition that contributes to fatigue. I am scheduled to have a sleep study to check for sleep apnea, but I believe that the fatigue is primarily due to the bronch. You mentioned that you do nasal washes. Initially I started using a baby's ear syringe but like the Grossan HydroPulse Nasal/Sinus Irrigation System much better. I have had two sinus surgeries about four years ago that has helped. I am also from central U.S.A. I am from Illinois but have lived in Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, and Kansas before moving to Texas. Norma
