We are 10 days in to the voting period for the Pepsi Refresh Project- Veterans Creative Healing. To those of you who continue voting everyday thank you for your support! I need you to help me push this project to the next level. We have been stuck at 60th place for a few days and need to continue to work our way to the top 10. You can help by voting daily, posting on facebook and twitter, AND call on your friends, family, and contacts to do the same. Read the forwarded message below and hear from a local veteran why this program is important. Attached you will find one of his colored pencil drawings. Thank you again, DeLucia Local artist and Veteran Mark Payton on why this gallery space is important to the Rochester community and local Veterans.

By the very nature of the work of being a soldier, living in a very structured social group, and the inherent dangers of that life, changes the veteran into a very different person. For combat vets that change is extreme. Having a place to combine the objective and the subjective is vital to helping us balance our past military life with our current civilian one. It is also a means of exposing those memories, and the emotions that come with them, that we have hidden because they are not the kinds of things that a civilized society will accept. And most importantly, creating a place to show our work helps those we fought to protect to understand us and those who fought along side of us to find balance in themselves too.

Support artists like Mark. Vote now for Veterans Creative Healing! http://www.refresheverything.com/veterans-creative-healing
