Hi, Everyone...Donna....We were told when was 6-7ish that he was

'probably' ADD but because he's so smart, he can compensate for it. Now that

he's in

HS,and 16, it is so obvious to me but no one will listen because he didn't

get

the dx. in elementary school. He carries a very high GPA yet is so

disorganized and misses easy questions because he will not slow down and

proofread,

Margaret, the problem often turns up in college when they are left to their

own devices, so to speak. n COULD have a very high GPA, but he'll get a

C in a class because points were taken off for lateness in handing in

assignments (good ole Catholic school mentality). He missed first honors in

grade

school all the time because of his behavior (never ever bad or

disrepectful...he's SUCH a good kid...but just goofy) The disciplinarian at

his school

called us in this year for really stupid stuff...like Bren came into class with

all his clothes on backwards (they have to wear jackets and ties at his

school)...or wearing his tux to school (yes he has his own....the kid went to so

many

proms last year and we still had senior year...we figured it'd be cheaper to

buy one...LOL) The disciplinarian conceded that there was nothing he could

do about it, as it was within dress code AND he actually thought it was pretty

funny...LOL He never ever thinks of consequences until it 's too late.

Him losing Maddie in October was the impetus in getting him tested. He was so

devastated and baffled....he knew something wasn't right in his head.

Keep an eye on Margaret!!! We were always told about those

*compensatory* skills. Compensation is good for a bit, but it can catch up to

you

anyway.

Hi Donna,

What a nerve! We had a similar situation a few years ago with a friend that

happened to be the assistant principal at Zeb's school. Pete and I had gone to

school with him since elementary. Pete always helped him with his construction

projects during the summer months. He would hang out in Pete's shop many

times during the summer months. He tied Zeb up in school a few years ago. Pete

actually went looking for him. He hasn't been to our house since. He is now a

principal at another elementary school that I attend PPT meetings at for another

child. He barely can look at me.

Friendship does not take precedence or any child's well being. I hope the

both of you straighten this guy out.

OMG Charlyne!!!!!! That guy shouldn't even be allowed to BE around kids,

never mind teach them!!!!! Sheesh!! I don't blame Pete for trying to go

after him....Duff would have been the same.

In my post to Ginny, I wrote how that meeting turned out.

BTW, Joe called yesterday to tell me that he was on a tough job fixing a

heater for over 6 hours....he said he felt that adderall helped. That he kept

his cool, stayed calm and stayed with it til it was fixed...something that

would have sent him over the edge a couple weeks ago. So, we'll see!!!!

Hi Donna,

Your and Pete's friend are pompous a..... They know it all and will say and

do whatever to defend their actions. You are a better person than I, kissing

him on the cheek. I may have bit it if I got that close,LOL.
