Guest guest
Hi Irma, I hope you took advantage of that road trip in your van. Sounds like fun. Zeb needs assistance playing games but does enjoy and so much wants to be part of the gang that he will do what the other kids do. He also invited his typical girlfriend over to show her off to his nieces. One of the granddaughters is his age too, all fifth graders except for the seven yr old granddaughter. The kids had a great time at their party. They were all so good. Grammie is sick with a sinus infection so they were very helpful to me and Zeb. It is the first year that they all made it past 12:00 to see the ball drop. Zeb's Indian project consists of a very detailed written report and a simulated village. Zeb will dictate the report and I will type it on the computer for him. We have done the graphic organizer first to make it easier to collect the information. It would take most 5th graders a few hours but I had to break this up into smaller increments throughout the week. It is a major ordeal for Zeb to complete but doable with persistence. It is the price you pay for insistance of inclusion but worth every minute that it takes us for Zeb to receive a comparable education with his peers. Zeb is finally really included in every aspect of the his school day thanks to a dedicated ed consultant and attorney. He is enjoying every moment of school this year. After the nightmare that Zeb has had to endure in this school system these past few years it is a joy to finally see him thrive. The school staff has been able to see firsthand if a child's program is correct the results in an inclusive classroom can be amazing. I proved my point but with horrible consequences and retailiation toward Zeb in the past. I am looking forward to a new year and renewed attitudes of the entire school staff. Zeb's arrest in 2003 is still in the forefront with an ongoing FERPA investigation by the federal dept of ed. Wish Zeb luck that they find the staff at fault and this never happens to another child. I refuse to just move on until I do whatever it takes to make the school accountable for their actions. Happy New Year to All . I have events this weekend to get ready for, tax time and four PPT meetings to get ready for with other children. I have to do some school observations etc and have been attending workshops with the state sped resource center meeting the out of state training consultants. I am very behind with my paperwork. I may be quiet for awhile, sorry. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 11 DS/OCD
