totally addicted to videos, he not only wants to watch them all day, he wants to

rewind and play the same part over and over, i let him do it for awhile then i

work on something else with him, maybe his flash cards, cuddling, tickling, or

painting, but if he had his way he would do it 24/7 when he was not at school.

My 7 year old daughter has developed a bad habit within the past few

months - she wants to watch a few specific videos on television to

the total exclusion of all other activities and I am really

concerned about it. All attempts to distract her usually fail, and

she will just sit on the sofa and do nothing if we turn the tv

off.

Has anyone else been through this, and what recommendations do you

have for changing this behavior?

I had to laugh when I read Vi's reply. My son who is 6 also wants to

rewind the same parts of the video over and over. I did it for a while, but it

really got out of hand. He likes to have videos on all of the time but he

usually doesn't watch them constantly he just wants them on for background while

he is playing. If I shut them off though it's like he doesn't know what to do

with himself. I think it is a comforting for him.
