hi karen and welcome to our group..........this is

where you can ask all your questions and you will get

a variety of answers because everyone is different.

you are fortunate to have been able to be seen at the

mayo clinic.........that centre along with the

national jewish med.centre are the tops...........i'm

in canada and we have no such facility here.

my husband is the one with bronch.....he also has

alpha1 antitrypsin deficiency, which is genetic non

smokers emphysema.

roger is almost 62 and was diagnosed with both these

diseases when he was 54........he is doing well this

past year after having mac and several other

infections/fungi which were scary.......he never

misses his twice daily therapy of flutter valve and

postural drainage and occasional percussion if he

needs extra help.

we walk at the ocean most days and the island has very

little pollution..so we are fortunate that our

environment is healthy.........we don't allow anyone,

not even our family through the front door if they

have any kind of bug..........and we avoid crowds and

use no harmful chemicals in the house or garden.

roger's doctor suggested he use a rowing machine to

strengthen the chest muscles to help the lungs, so he

has just been able to afford to buy a good one and

enjoys it......he's up to 10 minutes, twice a day.

your exercise regime sounds excellent and that's one

of the best things you can do for yourself.
