Anyway, his first grade teacher called me one day and shared an " option " for addressing the swearing. She wanted to put lemon juice in his tongue every time he swore. First of all I would never allow anyone to do this to esp. with his history of abuse and second, wouldn't that be reinforcing. LOL!! Guest guest
Hi Gail! Yes, Halloween has always been my favorite holiday - lots of candy, getting to dress up, no visiting relatives/planning big dinners. To me, it is perfect. So, it was a real pick me up to have and I enjoy it together! Still no TSS - they are " working on it " . I'm just hanging in there. Meanwhile, we are trying to compromise and pick up from day care one hour earlier than normal as a good will gesture (as opposed to the possibility of him being excluded). I just dropped off film, and when it gets developed, I'll try to post a picture of two of him. Best wishes, Ginny Mom to (6yo/DS/PDD/AML in remission/100% boy)

Guest guest
Oh Gail, We are so fortunate to have Charlyne offering her assistant. I know I'll reserve a flight ticket or two for her to come down to San when I need her. Charlyne has been very supportive with info. I might have to come up with an excuse just for the visit. But, who knows maybe and I should make plans out y'all's way since your there too and we could all meet. Gail, that is awful that Seth ended up getting time out for what the teacher had taught him in the first place. I too, love the thought he knew the routine to the gym. I understand the turn taking but the teacher must clearly define so that he knows what is expected. Our kids do require many trials to learn a task. Definitely needed a transition, waiting, and turn taking strategies. The time-out was too long especially for something he must of been confused about. When I had entered 's classroom the first month of this school year as I was going to pick him up early. The teacher had mentioned that he ended up getting time out. I had to remind them to read his IEP that should not receive time-out because they were only rewarding him as this is what he would enjoy being by himself and would make a routine out of it. I did tell them that he needed a spot to calm down when acting out and do not speak to him or it would stir up more negative behavior and then redirect him to what was on his schedule. Well, just had to have my say. : ) Irma,15,Ds/ASD

Guest guest
Hi Gail, I hope I'm not having a cow about 's week. Maybe he is going through one of those down time. He was doing pretty good and now this turn around when he starts acting out or just wants to be left alone, does not have much of an appetite, not as bad just seems like one of those issues that I'm trying to figure out. I guess I just have those moments where I figure he is going to regress. I do have to learn to adjust and remember he is a teenager and he will go through some moments like some do. He was in a slow mode this morning. Has not been too compliant at school these past days. Who knows why? On another note, this past Wed. evening I went to a parent training meeting provided by our school district resource center in regards to the services available for when they reach 18. I've been to too many but figure won't hurt to listen to it again. I'm one of the few parents who attends to them from 's class. Along with several other states, TX is just as bad about the long waiting list for services but at least some of the Mental Health Services are starting to speak up about it and would like to battle like Florida has, which was mentioned. Well, prayers to that, thats for sure. There were a few parents with kids from other High school that were not aware of the programs available and once again the only parent receiving some services already through the state and he is also on a waiting list since he was younger so you can imagine that the other future students will have a longer wait. I made sure to speak up to the speaker and the Autism Lead Coordinator, " Ok, since most parents could not attend if they could provide copies of the handout of the services/resource info to the Middle school & High School Special Ed teachers so that they could hand them out to their students parents, if not I would send my copy to them and they could copy mine, of course it was one of those reverse psychology moments because then they said " they would have a teacher staff meeting " . It just ease my mind to know other parents will get updated information. I also had the opportunity to discuss about to the Autism Lead for the school district once the meeting was over if she could follow up on my request on the IEP that I had requested for all staff working with to have autism training and I'm aware of several Autism workshops coming up as has not been doing good these past days and I would not like for him to regress. Just needed to follow up with my request and concerns. Glad it was worth my time out to the parent training meeting. Wow! That is great news on Seth's dental visit. This too I have to add back to 's yearly routine. I was doing well with him until well you know the back surgery and I had not made an effort of risking the challenge. I believe I'm ready for it. At least he has come around the brushing of his teeth and then this new step slowly the flossing. I too remember when he would not allow this. Take care. Guest guest
Hi Gail, seems to be feeling better. Attitude well, its so and so with me. I have to step down from being near him as he wants his space. The sad part about it is when he is under the weather he loves to take over my bed and when I want to nap, " mom, leave me alone or get out " . He wins because I guess this gives him comfort and mom already feels bad for him not feeling well. Yes, he became ill again and believe or not I was at a different fabric store alone and not too far from his school " ringggggg " goes my cell phone, you got it! It was the school calling that it was not an emergency but thought I should know that he had done alot of poop all over him and his pants. Good thing he had an extra change of clothes at school and they cleaned him up with a shower. One of the aides who also enjoys working with came up to me to apologize for throwing away his underwear. I told her " not to worry, I stock up on them " . I too, toss them out. I just told them I better take him home to keep any eye out for him especially when it was pretty running.Just want to be on the safe side. All this was Thurs., kept him home Fri. still stayed on my bed but finally came around by yesterday evening. The lead teacher was out of the classroom and the school coordinator was attending to who had called me as the PM teacher was able to be there in the morning and he was busy with another student with Downs (female) who was giving him a hard time. It was funny recognizing her behavior and I just told the teacher " that is what you call a Downs day " . I would of told him how to get her off a couple of chairs as she was laying face down on it and would not listen or move but Master needed my attention and I just kept my mouth shut. Then I kinda of felt bad about it. The school coordinator said " she loves helping out the classroom and especially working with . In my thoughts " good " . Hmm, this is the person I'll need to work with and kept spinning with ideas. Well, once home he had gone straight to my bed, he ended up sleeping the entire day and then by evening he was pretty warm. No telling what he was going through as he was just on his last day of taking his antibiotic. It could of been the meds. Well, even though was not with me at the fabric store, seems like just can't be at one. ; ) To top it off, I just had one of those attitude towards my dh that I did miss working and guess this was one of those reality hits again. Hubby told me everybody would love to be in my shoes on not working. I just stayed quiet and was actually nice for not barking back. I guess with the school staff being nice with I was in la la land. Once again no telling what was going through him. Not worth taking him to the P-doc as I know he would not been able to do anything for him. You celebrating this weekend? Heading out to Dallas, about 4 hr. drive from SA. Hope we make it back on time as tomorrow our minister is to Bless my dh and I on our Anniversary. Its today, but we normally attend the 10:00 Sunday mass. Chat later and get Master dressed to hit the road. B-day Hugs! Irma,15,Ds/ASD Irma Irma, How's ? Came home sick today? Still running fevers? Guest guest
Hi Gail, WHAT? Wiping my eyes did I read right, might be neighbors? What is HGTV? This is new to hear, what stir this up? Well I'll be, this is news! No Tyler is not near, but to me its sort of like down the highway sort of say as I drive up to Dallas to visit my family and friends. Gail you move down here I'll pencil you in and make a point to visit you, if this is what it means. A New Yorker moving down to Texas. : ) I've been away from reading newspaper and watching a little TV as I babysit my grandson along with building a strong supportive letter to conquer the areas with the school districts to address needs. Plus the upkeep of the house, we've had beautiful weather these past days, well now its raining. I've rearrange and Rick's room, they have to share it again as I have my older son and his fiance & baby in Rick's old room. We are all adapting to the changes. I was offered 2 jobs with some friends of mine whom I've helped in the past to open their clinics one at a physical therapy and the other with a Chiro. The Physical Therapy place I ended up getting my future DIL a job there instead of me, part time to start of this past week and she is enjoying it alot. It almost feels like " my daughter " walking in my shoes. My friends feel like having her there its like still holding on to me, blush. The Chiro I told him to get educated as a DAN doc or somewhat like the Chiro we've spoken about in the past. Than " we'll talk " as I told him. I have not heard from him yet, hope I did not overwhelm him with too much info, but he did ask me to work with him and was taking my advice the last time he had emailed me. He did leave me his number but I'm busy to call right now as I need my time and energy towards . School is near end and I want to make sure I get the ball rolling again. Gosh! The temptation to go back to the workfield. I must program my mind that I've retired from the workfield my destiny is to assist my son. : ) I heard a story from up there in NY that some employee had been dead since Monday and this is a place with lots of employees and everybody is at work in their cubicles and then along comes Sat. and the cleaning guy saw this employee and had asked him " What brings you to work on a Saturday? " Well this day happen to be the discovering of his death. Autopsy had shown that he's been dead since Mon. This is terrible but somewhat of a lesson, though. First its nice to nodge and greet fellow employees but the second lesson here is " What good is it to work so hard and nobody notices it " . This I must remember and concentrate what I'm doing for . I've been Blessed in many ways though. Irma,15,Ds/ASD hey Irma Irma, I just saw that HGTV is building their new dream home in Tyler Texas. Anywhere near you? I'm winning it this time, so maybe we'll be neighbors! LOL Gail :-)
