Guest guest Posted January 12, 2010 Report Share Posted January 12, 2010 Therapeutic Arts Alliance of Manhattan Formerly The Institute for Drama Therapy presents Songs of Innocence: Attachment, Loss, and the Creation of the Reparative Family with Traumatized Children January 16, 2010 Facilitated by Nash, LCAT and Lucy McLellan, LCAT, RDT This workshop will invite participants into the challenging journey of working with children traumatized by the disabling effects of insecure attachment. Through experiential and didactic exploration, we will examine a therapeutic way of being that optimizes the formation of reparative relationships. This workshop will address: · the genesis and experience of insecure attachment · the intergenerational transmission of trauma · the emotional preparation of the leader necessary to reach the emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs of the child · the use of metaphor as a path towards accessing the inner life of the child · the therapeutic use of song and the role of spontaneous creativity with traumatized children · a way of being with deeply troubled children and the empathic connection between therapist and child necessary for healing to begin This workshop is for mental health professionals, educators, students and all those somewhere on this therapeutic journey.
