Guest guest
My friend's son, age 20, is in crisis. This past January had a severe strep and mono infection at the same time and was very sick for weeks. His tonsils were so full of strep, they had to be lanced and drained. About a month after he recovered and while back away at college, he began to act strangely - not go to class, not shower or brush his teeth, not eat, speak but not make much sense. His friends alerted his professor who got him to a counselor, who got him to a psychiatrist and oh boy... He had to drop out of college in April, is now on Zoloft and physically threatening his mom - raging mad - previously had been a gentle soul. I'm suspecting the recent infections might have something to do with his initial mental decline. I've told her to ask for strep and viral titers to be checked. What else are we missing? What are treatments for stealth viruses if there are any? Any other advice/experience with depression would be helpful. Does anyone know of any good websites for alternative treatments for depression? Thanks so very much for your help, Jackie
