Guest guest
Hi everyone! We have a new family joining us today! Here is what they had said..... My daughter was diagnosed with MDS last week here in Seattle. She is 14 years old with PDD-NOS (mild autism) and Dyspraxia (motor planning difficulties in oral/fine/gross motor skills). We have worked hard with her and her special needs for the last 13 years without suspecting DS since her appearance does not reveal it, nor dozens of medical and developmental specialists had ever mentioned it to us. The reason we had the chromosome test done last month was that she had stopped growing for nearly a year and we wanted to know the reason for her short stature. The medical professionals were initially concerned about Mosaic Syndrome. Now that we have learned that she has MDS, many things make sense. We have always drawn a lot of helpful, developmental and " how-to " info from the Down Syndrome books as well as autism books. We also have been very blessed with many friends who have children with DS, and I have built an extensive network among the autism community as well. An interesting thing is that we had never heard of " Mosaic DS " until last week, and as far as we know, we have no one around us whose child has MDS. We are in the middle of learning about MDS, and I would appreciate the opportunity to get connected with the MDS community and learn from their experience and wisdom. Thank you so much for reading this, and look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to ask me any questions. -Kai s (Sophie's mom) Welcome Kai, I'm so glad your here!
