I agree with your point 100%. and faced all those horrors

but do you know what eventually killed ? Possibly the same thing

harming our kids.

and 's exhibition faced a certain unforseen " risk " at the

hands of Rush (whose profile is on the seal of the American

Psychiatric Association) who prescribed calomel (mercury pills) to

the explorers to ward off the runs or syphilis or something. And

Merriweather eventually went nuts and killed himself, in a bit

of a madhatter fashion. Not brought down by a cougar or the frozen

tundra but by medicine.

...wild animals, biting insects, hostile natives (some hostile, but

most were extremely helpful), hunger, etc, etc,  Yet none was lost

due to these risks associated with mother nature.

way they spent a long winter in N. Dakota with tempts in the -20 F.

You would have thought that and and his entire band of

troopers would have died of the measle, mumps, rubella, diptheria,

pertusis, and tetanus.  They made their trek in 1804-5, how did they

do it without the " miracle of vaccines? "   Perhaps they trusted in

something other than " vaccines? "

As Mason said to Dixon, " You gotta draw the line somewhere. "

Like Coca-Cola used to have actual cocaine in it, calomine may have

at one time had " colomel " . I don't know for sure. Wiki it?
