As she has quite lax ligaments they did a tibial tubercle (not sure of spelling sorry). However, approx 3 weeks later the screw holding the ligament started working its way out. I have just noticed it while reading through old lists. I wonder if you mean that your lady had a transfer rather than a replacement. I too had very lax ligaments and had that surgery (many years before TKRs were available). I had EXACTLY the same problem and it was eventually resol;ved by removing the screws. I had both legs done originally and had the same problem in each. After both screws were removed all was OK and then, when I had the left knee done again because everything had stretched again they did it WITHOUT using screws. Finally I had a TKR on that leg. The surgery to remove the screws was not bad and didn,t take long so I think she can be reassured. Pat Newton.
