Greetings,

I am 34 and have had Fibro since 2001, which is now being managed. I came

down with it after a nasty sinus infection that didn't respond to

antiobiotics. I suspect the sinus infection was either fungal or viral, not

bacterial, and eventually went away after changing diet (no sugar, wheat

flour or alchohol for a long while), as utilizing mega multivitiamens, B

complex, thymulus, goldenseal, and silver nasal spray. I believe that I had

developed some secondary bacterial infections in the process which were

finally sucessfully treated with a long-term course of antiobiotics (I

finally begged the Dr to keep me on the antibiotics as long as I could

tolerate it...and it worked.)

My firbo symptoms developed after being unsucessfully treated using the 5

day course of antiobiotics, followed by a short stint with Biaxin (one pill)

which ate up my stomach so badly that drinking water caused me pain. I was

admitted to the hospital twice that day for severe dehydration and oth times

given IV fluids and then a lovely mixture of maalox and lydacaine, followed

by pepcid to ease the pain. I was relegated to jello and mashed potatoes

and lost 10 lbs in two weeks. After that I was put on Augmentin and took

Advil. It was while I was taking Augmentin that I started to experience the

lhorrible upper and lower leg pain that would eventually spread to my entire

body.

Somehow I managed to finish graduate school (I was barely able to drive most

of the time), begin recovery (holistic, accupuncture, western medicine,

homeopothy, herbal remedies, you name it). I still feel rotten at times,

but I am SOOO much better than I was back in 2001-2003. I am so lucky to

have such a supportive husband who helped me through these difficult

times....

Has anyone else had similar reactions to augmentin or advil...or the

combination of the two?

Thank you,

Ann
