Towards a Theory of Love and Fear in Drama Therapy

Nisha Sajnani, Ph.D., RDT, President-Elect of the NADT

Dr. Sajnani will share some ideas with us about love and fear, and in particular, about how the capacity for intimacy might just be the internalized, relational, and systemic change we seek. She will outline some of the ways in which drama therapists challenge fear and invite us to think about our research and practice through this emergent paradigm.

Nisha Sajnani, Ph.D., RDT, is a multi-disciplinary artist, educator, advocate, and registered drama therapist. She has over fifteen years of experience in facilitation, program research, and design within private and public agencies and institutions addressing a broad range of social policy and advocacy issues (racism, poverty, immigration, youth engagement, social cohesion, gender equity, violence prevention, governance) coupled with extensive experience with arts-based and collaborative pedagogical approaches to group learning and facilitation. Nisha also brings expertise in trauma and its effects on human systems as well as particular interests in hybridity, performance, audience reception, and generative inquiry and dissemination. Traumatic Stress Center in New Haven, CT and is on faculty at the Institutes for the Arts in Psychotherapy (NYC). Nisha is also on faculty in the Humanities department at Yale University where she teaches a course on Applied Theater, Trauma, and Cultural Intervention with her colleague, Read . Nisha is the President-Elect of the National Association for Drama Therapy
