Guest guest
this came to my attention and I thought I'd forward . . . Dear Fellow Brooklynites, For four Saturdays in May, Brooklyn for Barack will be partnering with Haiti Cultural Exchange to provide arts workshops for Haitian and Haitian-American kids here in NYC who have been affected by the earthquake. We will provide workshops for a range of ages. Some of the activities will be geared to give kids a break from all they've been through; others will focus on giving them a chance to document their experiences. And, as a part of the events, we plan to invite everyone who attends to help create a portable " mural " that can then be shipped to a school in Haiti. If you are interested in volunteering, we'd love your help! We're looking for: Artists/Craftspeople/Teachers/Teaching Assistants Event Organizers General Volunteers Art Supplies Other Resources Please send an email to jeanne@... and let her know how you would like to contribute. If you are interested in running or assisting in running a workshop, please let Jeanne know what type and for what age group. There will be plenty of Haitian and Haitian American artists/craftspeople participating, so don't worry if your workshop wouldn't have specifically Haitian content. Workshops can begin and end in one session or require several sessions. If you have a background in art therapy, we'd love to ask for your expertise as well. And please do forward this email to anyone you think might be interested in participating. Regards, Jordan
