Guest guest
: When my kids were very little I read them a book by Eva Bunting. I cannot remember the title but it was an analogy of the Holocaust. The story was told by a rabbit, The "WIND" came for the snails and other animals and "who" cared as they were of the lower end of the food chain. The wind kept coming and the rabbit was left alone when the wind came for him. He could not tell anyone as there were no animals left to tell. This petition is nothing more than a witch hunt for anyone seeking support in an AS/NT relationship that does not have their stamp of approval on it. Thank God we have the 1st amendment in the USA. I may not always agree, but TOGETHER we make a difference. Just me.
Guest guest
, I am at a loss. I have read that book, and do not see the resemblance to the ASAn petition at all. Am I missing something? ASAN is not advocating killing anyone, or taking anyone away, but only wants to make it clear that people who are allowing their names to support an organization that is advocating, as an organization, to take away our rights should stand by their convictions. i would not want my name to be used for this, but some people do not mind that. ASAN is not saying anything African-Americans have not said first, about groups which publicly advocate to take away their rights, either, for example. You are making this our to be a free speech issue, but in fact, there is a difference between publishing a news article and touting yourself as the person to educate court personnel so as to rule differently, if the person is AS, than if he or she is NS. FAAAS is not merely speaking, but holding seminars to teach legal and professional people just how to employ discriminatory tactics- and trying to make it so that people on the spectrum wiill not have equal rights. They (FAAAS) are coming for us, and not the other way around. When they just made statements at meetings and even published books with their opinions in it, ASAN did not do anything in terms of petitioning, even though we had many discussions about the fact that we disagreed (I have been involved in ASAN for over a year). I did not write this petition, but I would definitely agree that it is completely unfair to bias court personnel against AS folk before they are ever even heard by a judge or a court officer. I believe that this is simply more than free speech or opinion, but it is some kind of tampering. I do not know the technical term for it, but there are constitutional limits on free speech, and there are certainly limits on what someone can teach who is in a professional capacity, at least in some events. Does a school teacher have the right to pray in class? not at many elementary ahd high schools. Would FAAAS have the right to say this to high school students, where there is at least one AS student in class whose parents might complain? I do not think so. teaching is different from free speech. Also, how does any of this relate to taking people away and killing them or disappearing them? Maybe, I have missed a post, or taken something not right- and I will laugh about it when you point it out. If ASAN has conveyed something like people should not have the right to just speak, I doubt they meant that- none of us believe that. I would certainly relay back any suggested reqording that would make the same point about not teaching formal disregard of our rights in a legal setting. As for interacting together, there are plenty of ASAN members who love the NS people in their lives, and desire nothing better than to work together with NS folk. I am one of them. BTW, four of my relatives were killed by Hitler, for being Jews. He killed autistic people too, if they were labeled the wrong way. Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Corrie tem Boom's sister Betsie were murdered as well, for being strong Christians. He killed members of the intelligensia who would not go along with the carniage. Hey, he could kill me four times right there- but he is dead. Would he kill you too? I promise that if anyone comes for you, I will complain.
