I am new to the group.

I have occasional bouts of pain, however the fatigue causes me a lot of

stress. I also become anxious and depressed over what it has done to my

life. I retired on disability (I'm 57) because I have

depression/anxiety and panic disorders. my Dr. said I'd do better with

that diagnosis, rather than getting disability for FM I am financially

stiffled. I feel so bad because I can't do much of anything. I was a

teacher and very active in my former life...I am I get depressed

because my 80 year old neighbor has more of a life than I do. Help!!!!

I may be able to help you in one aspect. The anxiety can be horrific, I

know from experience. I started having anxiety attacks at the beginning of

this year. It would happen when I woke up and was intense! I wake up

several times a night so was having several anxiety attacks. After doing a

lot of research I found a substance called GABA that you can get at a health

food store. I took one a night, occasionally 2 if I woke up in the middle

of the night with anxiety again, though it wasn’t as bad as before. I went

through 1-1/2 bottles and haven’t needed it for a couple of weeks now.

Bottom line is, it really works. I can’t say that often.

The bright side for you is that you got to retire. I’m 51 and have taught

most of my life; 11 years as a pre-school teacher, 10 years as a

paraeducator for the severely learning impaired while I went back to college

to become an elementary teacher. I was also taking care of my mom for 16

years…I’ve only gotten to sub as an elementary teacher and now can’t even do

that. I’m working on getting disability and am really scared. I don’t know

how we are going to get through this without losing our house. I pray a

lot! Like you I was very active, always working on things in the house;

painting, putting down flooring, etc. Now, I can’t do anything. I have

projects piling up and I just look at them and often cry. It’s so

frustrating. The house we moved to brought down our debts but it needs a

lot of work. Silly me, I thought I could do a lot of that work.

Life gives you thorns, not lemons (I love lemons :-) ) and what do you do

with that?

Big hugs,

Jane

Thanks for you email.

GABA sounds familiar.

Good suggestion.

I thank God every day that I don't have to work

although the loss of income is hard.

I can say out loud that this is my life and I have to

go through it the best I can, however I have a hard

time accepting it.

Mom is in a nursing home. Taking care of her, going to

work and facing my own conditions was to much.

god Bless.
