Guest guest
Hi all, My sleep dr gave me a antibiotic to see if it helps, it is called doxycycline(generic) or vibramycin (brand name) I have to take 2 100MG pills a day for 200MG a day. I have fybro, cronic fatigue, hypothryroidism, high blood pressure, I take synthroid and norvasc for those. I also heard someone say a lot of people have hypothryroid with fibro, I just found out I had cronic fatigue and the start of sleep apnea, through my sleep tests. I don't mind anyone saying what works for them. take care, Jody
Guest guest
Hi, I haven't contributed to the list in quite some time but I do want to add something now. About 2 years ago I went to see Dr. Lowe. She was located in Tulas, OK and I live in CA so it was quite an expensive trip but so worth it. She suggested I needed Thyroid meds even though my regular Dr. said I had no thyroid problem. As soon as I located a Fibro Dr. here that would allow me to try the thyroid meds Dr. Lowe suggested, I found a marked improvment in my fibro and I also followed Dr. Lowes other advice which was to eliminate all things made with flour or gluten, sugar, drink lots of water and I take a vitamin powder (All Insurance Vitamin Powder by Bronson Labs) that she suggests but has no affiliation to so she is not selling it but simply suggests that she has found it works best for fibro patients. I freeze fresh fruit and make smoothies with it in the morning and add the vitamin powder along with a scoop of soy protien powder to it. When I run out of the vitamin powder, I immediately notice a huge difference in my energy level. My chronic fatique comes back with a vengence and its like my Fibro just hits me full on. When I start to think I can get away with eating things made with flour, (bread, cakes, pasta, etc.) within a day or so, all my hip pain and bones start to ache badly again and then I have to face it that these foods just do not work well with me. I have been a vegetarian since birth so its much harder for me to give them up than most people because its all I've eaten all my life. No one thing works the same for every person with Fibro but I have found that drinking a lot of water, taking a good quality vitamin supplement everyday without fail, changing your diet to fresh foods as much as possible and exercising with weights will improve you. It's true that you can spend a small fortune on everything under the sun trying to find that one miralce " cure " but I think the " cure " is simply doing what isn't so simple to do. Eating right, exercising, drinking water and taking vitamins. If you do this everyday, you may not be cured, but you will feel like it until you stop doing it. I was on the brink of suicide...the worst case ever of Fibro but have all but cured myself with a lot of very hard work. Once I find myself on the other side of this, I would nver turn back. I have found my life again and so can you. It takes a lot of effort but you are so worth it. Remember, it's just one step at a time. One day at a time. In a few months you will look back and say " I am feeling better " and then a few more months you will say " hmmm...I wonder if I still have Fibro " then you will slip back into your old habits and your body will answer that question for you. So you get back on that horse and start again. Life is worth it. Fight for your health, for any of you that are very heavy and cannot exercise, I say lift one arm...lift a leg...point your toes...just do something every single day. Move forward and visualize getting better and try, try, try. If I can do it, anyone can. I am the worlds laziest person. I lost 90 pounds. I decided to just get well. Okay I'm done. Donna hey jody: you should investigate the thyroid angle. Look up drlowe.com and wilsonthyroidsyndrome.com. they talk about people who take synthroid and how they may need T3 also. You need a doc who is willing to examine this aspect of your health. hope it helps. it did help me. rosemarie
Guest guest
Hi Suzy, It's true, I have heard that also, but then again, I have heard so many things. Many conflicting each other. Since I'm a vegetarian and when we all have this terrible brain fog and need something easy and quick to fix to eat and something that gives us protien and energy, I decided to try the soy anyway. I have not myself had any adverse side effects using it. I feel great and so far (going on two years now) since using it, I feel very good and when I don't use it, I feel bad. So I think you really must experiment for yourself and listen to your own body. If soy doesn't agree with you then do not use it. Brava ! > She suggested I needed Thyroid meds even though my regular Dr. said I had no >thyroid problem. That is interesting because I have had a bunch of blood tests and they all say my thyroid is fine. I am cold all the time, have trouble keeping my weight normal without a lot of thought and some exercise. I don't have the straw-like hair that my hubby did before taking his thyroid meds, but I am going to ask my acupunturist about that. > >........I also followed Dr. Lowes other advice which was to eliminate all things made with >flour or gluten, sugar, drink lots of water and I take a vitamin powder (All >Insurance Vitamin Powder by Bronson Labs) that she suggests but has no >affiliation to so she is not selling it but simply suggests that she has found it >works best for fibro patients. Have your read ER4YT book on foods by blood type? I am an O and had to quit all corn, wheat, all grains, actually, am allergic to soy, alfalfa, egg whites, dairy, to name a few. I hear ya, it is tough. I was a vegetarian for 10 years, three of which I was a total Vegan. Did not work well for my body at all, in fact for me I hurt my body depriving myself of animal/poultry proteins. > I have been a vegetarian since birth so its much harder for me to give >them up than most people because its all I've eaten all my life. No one thing >works the same for every person with Fibro but I have found that drinking a lot >of water, taking a good quality vitamin supplement everyday without fail, >changing your diet to fresh foods as much as possible and exercising with weights >will improve you. Eating right, exercising, drinking water and >taking vitamins. That is very important. and if someone is sick, for me, I think acupuncture is essential in order to heal much faster. >If you do this everyday, you may not be cured, but you will feel >like it until you stop doing it. I was on the brink of suicide...the worst >case ever of Fibro but have all but cured myself with a lot of very hard work. Good for you. I totally agree that we have to do whatever we can to help our bodies heal itself. > Life is worth it. Move forward and visualize getting better >and try, try, try. Yup and getting outside in fresh air is important. Start with walking one minute, then 5, then 10 til you can do 15 min. every day for sure. That one walk a day will help a lot. > If I can do it, anyone can. I am the worlds laziest person. I lost 90 >pounds. I decided to just get well. > Okay I'm done. Much appreciate you sharing, Donna. I really think the best support we get is from other people who have been through this. My husband and I have always been extremely athletic, exercising intensely for 4 hours 5 days a week. Now I am sure deep down he must think I am lazy, or he doesn't " get it " or something because just today he asked me to take down some shelving. WTF? I am trying to get myself well enough by not over-exerting and still doing some exercise. Right !! I'll just grab the power tools and spent 6 hours doing what I could do ten years ago (and even then I wasn't well). So it is up to us to keep providing each other with the motiviation and mental energy and emotional support it takes to do what we alone must do for ourselves. cheers, Cat ^. .^ ~ " Enjoy the edge you're on . . . don't think about the one to come! Some of us, like myself, are allergic to soy. Otherwise, it doesn't provide quite the same kind of nutrition in feeling strong that it would for another blood type. I know my husband tries most of the time but he doesn't get it either. I can see it in his eyes that he thinks I should just suck it up and take it and move on and get 9 to 5 job, be super mom, take on several PTA commities, continue to write all 3 books I'm writing, finish all the portraits I'm drawing, and start up my jewelry business again. He says he doesn't have the Luxury to stay at home and be sick like me. So now you have a new perspective...we are all lving in luxury. lol. I think he'll " get it " when I get strong enough to kick his ass. Until then, I can't let anyones inability to not understand what we go through to get me too down. I just keep on. keeping on. Thanks Cat, it sounds like you're doing great!
