Guest guest
Ok I am super excited about this and only y'all will understand why! Other people seem confused as to why I am so very excited! Our 14 month old has up until recently not spoken at all- only the occasional random " da " or " ma " , but mostly only gurgles and raspberries. (he LOVES blowing raspberries! Spits everywhere. Gross.) Just last week he started using his first " word " (one that he repeats and that is always referring to the same thing) He says " dah " when he sees our dog, or a cat, or a squirrel... any animal, really. He really loves animals. We have been working extensively with him with signing and saying words at the same time, and today, when I said " Where is the ball? " and signed the words for " where " and " ball " , he looked around, walked over to his big red ball, and picked it up!! I almost had a heart attack! He did it a few more times before he got tired of the game. The big deal for me was that now I actually know that he can UNDERSTAND what I'm trying to say to him! Language has never seemed to mean a thing to him, and this makes me feel like we are actually making some progress!! So heartening. Just wanted to share what a proud Mommy I am right now! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!! - (mother of Gracie, 2, and Caede, 14months)
