I was on the pill since I was 13, for irregular periods I got off it a year

ago, because I thought since I was on it straight for almost 8 years I would

give my body a break, I went back on the pill 2 mths. ago and it has worked

great, the pill has always worked great for me, it regulates me in the first

month, I just got off of it because i have Veds and it is supposed to put you

at higher risk for blood clots, but for right now, at this point in my life i

think it is best that I am on it, I have always been on Low-Ovoral, it is

supposed one of the lowest pills you can get, well good luck I hope this

helps if you have any other questions please feel free to ask. =)

Poor Cheryl!

Well I had the same thing until I tried Ortho-Novum 1/50. It is very strong

and not anything I'd recommend because of the persistent migraines I had on

a daily basis. All lesser doses gave me breakthrough.

If she is not finding her current pill helpful her gyn may recommend another

one. It takes a good dr that understands your history well to find a pill

that is right for you....and there are more pills out there than you can

possibly imagine, so it may take some time to find the one that works best

for Cheryl.

Hang in there Cheryl!!

I was on that too before the hysto... that also gave me migranes, but worked

for a while anyway... I guess they will ahve to cange it again, but they always

want to try the new ones at least 3 months and she gets too frustrated waiting

for 3 months to be up...

I guess I will call them again and see what they say... You'd think they'd want

to do an ultrasund or something to see if anything else was going on don't

ya!!????

geez

It has been sleeting here all day, it was suppose to be snoe.. may chnage over

by tomorrow what a mess!!!!!

Hugs and tahnks Jill!!

Hey Deb!

I don't admire Cheryl's position in terms of having to take the pills for a

three month trial. It is necessary though, so her blood levels adjust and

reflect the amount of the hormones in her system. It takes time for them to

level out and prove themselves. She has to hang in there....even though it

must be a hell for her.

Let her know we're thinking of her and hope that she gets some relief soon!!

Ann had dreadful period pains for years until she went into hospital to

have the Marina Coil fitted. It is a slow release hormone which doubles

as a contraceptive - Ann is latex allergic - but it has made quite a

difference to the period pains. Ann and a visit to the doctors once

where the pain was so bad she was sick in the sanitary bin and could not

leave the toilet for the bleeding. Eventually the doctor came into the

toilet to treat her as she was being so sick she could not get into the

consulting room. I will never forget that day and I don't think the

doctor will either.

Ann had tried all sorts of hormone tabs which did little but upset her

system.

The Marina coil is coated in slow release hormones and lasts five years.

Just wondered if this was of any use to you. Hope you find something

that helps, soon.

Good luck,

Lilian.

I was on Alesse for a couple of years. It worked really well for me.

Had been on the Ortho one you mentioned and another time had a

different one for me.

I found the Alesse to be the best birthcontrol pill for me.

One of the side effects I had trouble with before was the bloating

and feelings of depression and went off the pill because of it. I

didn't have the side effects with Alesse.

I was originally put on the pill as a teen to regulate my periods as

they were very irregular.
