Guest guest
Nadiya and Roman, Are these just food reactions you have noticed? You said you had not done any of the tests but it sounds like you know that your son is more reactive to some than other foods, so is this based on an IgG food test? There are many physicians who feel that the IgG food test is a good measure of intestinal permeability, because the immunoglobulins that are produced inside the gut should be IgA, the immunoglobulin that protects mucus membranes. IgG instead protects the blood. Developing IgG allergies suggests that the food proteins which are inspiring the immune response must be getting past the intestinal barrier and getting into the blood, provoking the IgG response. If this is happening, then you are likely to develop allergies to whatever you are eating, and when you change what you are eating, you will likely develop immunoglobulins against those foods, too, so it is like chasing your tail. The trick is to figure out what is provoking the leaky gut, and try to fix that. A lot of people find a benefit to rotating the foods so that you have a few days in between exposures, and that helps calm down the immune response. I wanted you to know that there may be something that could backfire with some of these foods that are left because they are extremely high oxalate, like kiwi, quinoa, potatoes, and bean flour. If you have intestinal permeability, their oxalate would be absorbed and it can cause problems to the rest of the body and maybe even the brain. I don't know if you've heard about the low oxalate diet, but you can get information on it from www.lowoxalate.info and there also is a yahoogroup for support. One of our listmates on that support group wrote this recently, speaking of using the diet for her daughter, who does not have autism, but has chronic fatigue, but it shows that for some people, the low oxalate diet does seem to close the leaky gut and reduce food allergies: NT DAUGHTER, age 15 (16 now), with fatigue * Significant and permanent improvement in energy If oxalates go up too much in the diet once again, I have seen: weight loss acne pain in various places in her body, including feet * Closed leaky gut using LOD and calcium before meals and VSL#3. This took about 5 months. My daugther was absolutely THRILLED! No more immune reactions to foods! Can eat gluten (some, but grains are oxalate) and casein (some) now, without immediate problems. Nadiya and Roman, you would be certainly welcome to subscribe to Trying_Low_Oxalates and do a search in the archives on what parents have said changed regarding food allergies and food intolerances for those on LOD. There is a mini-chapter on Low Oxalate in the most recent version of CSB.... At 10:39 PM 12/21/2007, you wrote: >Hi all, >We are new to this group. Guest guest
One year ago we had the same questions, not only about rise, but with other food too. That was many products that our daughter could not take. You have all these necessary nutritional with supplements and that can help you to eliminate all food which your child is allergic to. After 6 month you can introduce back some products carefully and if you won't get bad result, they can stay. But you need to do that gradually type one time per week to see impact clearly. With best regards Tamara
Guest guest
Thanks a lot to everyone for the feedback! , We can tell our sone is allergic to these foods purely based on his sympthoms - rash on his body (starts from legs), eczema. When he stops taking food he has a reaction to - after 3-5 days the sympthoms go away otherwise the recation is getting worse and can really get bad. He actually got eczema just a few weeks after he was put on GF/CF/SF diet - he had never had it before! We did not do an IgG test. Do you know if we can do this test without DAN! doctor? And if yes which lab is best? How can we find out what is provoking the leaky gut? You are saying about rotating the foods. Whould you please give us more details? Are you saying we rather extend his menu to include the food he is allergic to but rotate the food every few days? We appreciate your advise about oxalate diet. Looking forward to hearing from you. Guest guest
Nadiya and Roman, I'm sure that was frustrating that putting him on a diet that is supposed to get him better provoked a new problem! Sometimes, when people are going g/f c/f, they introduce a lot more high oxalate foods than what was being eaten before. Back when I started me and my daughter on g/f c/f about thirteen years ago, there weren't very many manufactured products available, so if we didn't cook things by scratch, we just did without. I think a lot of us oldies did not end up introducing higher oxalate foods in other grains and in things like rice milk, soy milk, almond milk, etc. We have had some children get over eczema with low oxalate, so it is possible, I guess, that oxalate could be the culprit. What foods did he stop eating, and what foods did he start eating when you went g/f c/f? I think you probably do need a doctor to get an IgG test. Here are a few resources on rotation diets: http://www.food-allergy.org/rotation.html http://www.parentsofallergicchildren.org/rotation.htm http://www.specialfoods.com/rotationdietexample.html warning: many of the foods they mention are extremely high oxalate! Please check against the lists at lowoxalate.info. You do have to be careful to not load up on oxalates on certain days the way some rotation diets are designed. I hope this isn't confusing! There are people on Trying_Low_Oxalates who have done rotation diets and tried to keep oxalates low, too. Please feel free to join and consult with them on how they did it! I hope this helps, At 11:38 PM 12/22/2007, you wrote: >Thanks a lot to everyone for the feedback! > >, >We can tell our sone is allergic to these foods purely based on his >sympthoms - rash on his body (starts from legs), eczema. Guest guest
Nadiya and Roman, You do need a doctor to order IgG test. We get our from Metametrix. The result comes with a personalized 4-day rotation diet (but not GFCF). Basically you are not to give your child the same food within 4 days. Don't worry, eventually you will be able to come up with a weekly meal schedule. Since you will introduce new fodds along the way you might need another IgG like we do to see if there are other foods in the diet that are offending. Guest guest
l-glutamine will help heal the gut if you think it's just a gut reaction CAUSING the reactions which would be things like bloating and or diareah. treating yeast and or bacteria issues will help to do that as well. if it's skin reactions then working on the immune system will help. lDN helped our son get rid of 22 allergies, he had TONS of them. if you can't do soy make sure your CLO is only from kirkmans as they are the only soy free one I have found. have you tried amaranth, and or buckwheat. and millet. for OTHER flours you may want to look at teff, as well. nuworld amaranth has cereal and flat breads you could do, and ponoco has a got ceareal, can he do pork? have you tried buffalo, lamb, venison ect.?? Recovering from Autism is a marathon NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! We have 5 yo son with mild ASD who has always been allergic to the food. 3 months ago we started GF/CF/SF and anti- Candida diet and we found out a lot of hidden allergies - there is almost nothing left he can eat. He is not allergic to green vegetables, potato, onion, squash, quinoa, pear, kiwi, bean flour, meat (everything must be organic). We also give him brown/white rice but he is allergic to it as well just not that bad. He takes calcium, magnesium, Cod liver oil, Vitamin E and C, B- complex, P5P+ magnesium, Ther-biotic Complete, Enzyme-Complete/DPP- IV, zinc, idebenone. We did not do any of the tests and we do not have a DAN! doctor yet. - Should we eliminate rice or should we continue give him it because of his pour diet? Is there anything else at all that we can do to reduce these allergies? - What our next steps in his treatment? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the support! Guest guest
our DAN suggests ALLETESS labs for IGG testing, you can call and order the kit and then ask your ped to sign off on it. it's like 113 dollars for 98 foods. what I mean on rotation is take what he is NOT allergic to and rotate so you don't develope NEW allergies. for example day 1 chicken, broccoli, blackberries, corn, quinoa day 2 pork, rice, asperigus and pears day 3 turkey, cranberries, cucumbers, potates day 3, beef, carrots and colored peppers, and amaranth and beans Recovering from Autism is a marathon NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! Guest guest
I agree, with the rotation, however, everything that you have written down my lil guy will not eat. I can now get chicken into him, and the only other things on your list that he will eat or is not allergic to is: pears, potatoes, carrots. He does eat Trader Joe's hot-dogs too. Guest guest
don't think traders joe's hot dogs are gfsfcf are they?? we don't have one but I have never seen them mentioned as safe on group. if so that may be why he won't take those other foods. kids limit when they get g,s,or c. you don't have to eat those items, add in 4 veggies he WILL do, 4 fruits he WILL do (perferabley NON yeast feeding ones like pears, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and or cranberries for starting out) 4 meats he WILL do, ect then assign one to each day. if you need more ideas for those things let me know and I can list some out. oh and same for the the gf grains Recovering from Autism is a marathon NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! Guest guest
Judy, We, too, had the Aletess IgG done. The rotation pattern came back totally different for my daughter - built around her sensitivities as it is foreach person. Some of the foods I had no clue about; some, I knew provoked negative responses. It took out over 42 items from her diet including many favorites, but it also allowed foods to which I thought she responded. We've found a few items on the allowed lists that she does not tolerate but, overall, it has given her a more varied diet. Abd symptoms are markedly down. Her IgA which has been unmeasurable for more than 10 years is on the rise. She protested but does honor it. I think it makes her feel much better. > > > > > > >Hi all, > > > >We are new to this group. Guest guest
from the pkg. of Trader Joe's hot-dogs: All natural All beef Uncured Hot-dogs, no nitrates, or nitrites added except for naturally occurring nitrates in celery juice and sea salt. No fillers, gluten free, no MSg, no added antibiotics, or hormones. beef, water, contains less than 2% of the following , allspice, celery juice powder, evap. cane juice garlic powder, ginger, honey, lactic acid starter culture, mustard, nutmeg, onion powder, paprika, pepper, sea salt they are pretty tasty............... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For veggies, he came out a 4 on the test for corn. So, the only other veggie he will eat is carrots, and sometimes home made French fries, and he came out with a 1 for them. I do sneak spinach and broccoli into the batter for making his chicken tenders. Fruits: pears and apples, and mandarin oranges is the only fruit he will eat. He eats mostly pears over all of them. Meats: chicken, hot-dogs, Boarshead roast beef slices, breakfast sausages, and sometimes I can get him to eat buffalo meat if I roll it into a breakfast sausage appearance. That is it for his diet. His tests came back with allergic to wheat, corn, dairy, soy, garlic, peanut, and rice. So, now I have to find a mix or recipe for a good tasting bread w/o any of those ingredients above. Thanks, Judy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > don't think traders joe's hot dogs are gfsfcf are they?? we don't have > one but I have never seen them mentioned as safe on group. if so that may > be why he won't take those other foods. kids limit when they get g,s,or > c. you don't have to eat those items, add in 4 veggies he WILL do, 4 > fruits he WILL do (perferabley NON yeast feeding ones like pears, > blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and or cranberries for starting > out) 4 meats he WILL do, ect then assign one to each day. if you need > more ideas for those things let me know and I can list some out. oh and > same for the the gf grains > Recovering from Autism is a marathon > NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! > Read more about it on my Blogs at > http://www.myspace.com/christelking > Re: 5 yo child with mild ASD - looking for > > advice > > > > > > Thanks a lot to everyone for the feedback! > > > > , > > We can tell our sone is allergic to these foods purely based on his > > sympthoms - rash on his body (starts from legs), eczema.
