Guest guest
As the Dominicans would say " un chin, chin " LOL Lived in DR for 6 months (SIL is Dominican, brother & wife live in DR now) and 1 1/2 yrs in PR (+ numerous visits to DR) - so know Spanish - but don't practice it enough... I have a habit of speaking only in the present tense... no, not a habit, it's all I know! Si tu quiere, tu puede practicar conmigo. LOL > > ¡Mucho gusto, Tony! ¿Hablas español? Guest guest
Ah come on Sharon, Cyber Daughter, you speak Spanish too? I think you are saying you can read it but can't speak it. Is that right? Tou greeted Raquel with hello. You never cease to amaze me. You have had the roughest life I have ever heard and now you are ill yourself, and yet, bless your heart, you reach out to others even in Spanish. I think a few words of it were, weren't they? Guest guest
Raquel ~ Soy maestra de espanol aqui en Tulsa. Guest guest
Okay, now girls, let's not keep secrets. I took one semester of Spanish and could read it a little bit then, but I never did learn to talk it; it's too fast. I have written people in shorthand and they didn't have a clue as to what I wrote. So, that's what your post looks like to me. Just joking. Guest guest
June...lo siento...I'm sorry. What I said is that I am a Spanish teacher, but I lose a lot of my ability especially during the summer when I'm not teaching! I have a degree in Spanish as well as in Speech and Drama Education. Additionally, I teach English, and because of those certifications, I taught English as a Second Language for several years for both children and adults and have quite a few Spanish-speaking friends. However, with any language, if you don't use it you lose it. It's always exciting for me to find someone with whom I can practice. From now on, when I post something in Spanish I will also post in English. Jannis Redefining Normal Every Day
Guest guest
Jannis, I was just kidding - hope you didn't take it seriously. I didn't mean to make you feel bad - you don't have to post in English, too. I could read a few of the Spanish words, but certainly not enough to understand. I found the hard part of Spanish was, if I remember correctly, the reversal of nouns and verbs. We have had such an influx of Spanish-speaking immigrants in the last several years, and everywhere you go, everything is posted in both languages. Then, you hear them conversing to one another, and they talk os fast, I can't understand anything they say. I suppose it's the same with them hearing us. As I said, I've written in shorthand a few times, and people find that pretty aggravating. Even if you can read shorthand, it's pretty hard to read someone else's. Some of the time, I can't read my own!!! June > > Subject: Re: Tony - Passing By - To All My Friends > To: LBDcaregivers > Date: Tuesday, July 15, 2008, 10:48 AM > June...lo siento...I'm sorry.
