So sorry about this loss - and my hope that in the next couple of weeks/months, that economically things will improve and you will find another position. Change may be inevitable, but it sure is scary.

Change is inevitable…

Change is inevitable…

Change is something we teach kids on the spectrum but is also a skill non spectrum folks need to learn especially with our economy these days. I work for a wireless company that was recently bought out by Verizon and we were laid off yesterday. There were a lot of tears and fear and some called in sick today as they are still dealing. No big surprise to some of us old timers as we knew this was coming but didn’t know when. The good news was our company did not say thank you and good bye; your services are no longer required effective immediately. Our end date is May 1st and anyone who is full time has 2 options. A severance package or 10 grand after taxes to relocate at any facility with an opening. They have brought in a team to help facilitate and for support.

Another fork in the road or new beginnings for ALL of us. I was asked all day, what are YOU going to do and I said I am keeping my options open. I have roots here. My kids are here. The fact that I survived a tech company for close to 4 years is a feather in my cap. I can’t see myself working for another tech company in the near future. Lol I did not always have good memories working here but I can honestly say the last year has been great and I will take those memories with me plus many good friendships. We had a lot of laughs along the way. Tech Company’s change moment to moment and I think it is interesting that for a communication company they have such poor communication and organizational skills and yet do very well financially with their special interest and skill. One can observe many challenges that are the same in a mixed marriage in our community. It has been an incredible journey with them and for all of “us.” No matter what each of us decides, we will carry a piece of each other with us always and we will go out on a high note with a BANG and a lot of laughs.

It is kind of twisted fate that just when we learned to celebrate our strengths and differences and gain acceptance from the other side, comes the time May 1st we have to say Good Bye. Maybe that is part of OUR journey? Moving on to the next level as we climb the mountain of life?

Just sharing as I know many are also losing their jobs and homes. I live in the USA in a community [bend, OREGON USA} that the media has written about for years as being one of the 5 best locations to live in the USA. Lol We now have one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. Our community has taken a major hit due to our location and being a retirement/resort community. There is no industry here. We call it poverty with a view. Loll

My ASPIE EX? Larry has had heart problems for years and they stopped and restarted his heart today at the hospital. I was more concerned about the procedure than him. Lol I said, you are not a cable box we are reprovisioning! It did not work. They tried three times and his heart reverting to his old rhythm. Life is what it is and now we regroup and move FF. It is like the quote: “without change their would be no butterflies.”

It was hard listening to them laying us off saying, "when God closes a window he opens a door." Well, that is easy for YOU to say as YOU have a job. lol We do have a sense of humor. lol

Just me.

A little late reading the mail, sorry.

*I know* job loss is worrisome and no trivial thing. These days doubly

so. My sympathies to you certainly, and to those who depend on you.

You'll land on your feet, surely. Let's hope it's sooner, not later -

which is no fun. Good luck!

- Bill ...been there, done that.

Hi ,

Just wanted to send some positive thoughts your way. In the past four

years my husband and I have been down this road several times after

having built respectable careers in the medical and aviation fields

for the Mayo Clinic and Raytheon Corporation.

Last June, after several failed positions due to no fault of his own,

my husband landed what he thought was going to be his dream job. Two

weeks before Christmas he was laid off w/two weeks severance pay. My

son is in college. We were scared.I know it is hard, but count your

blessings. It puts you in a better mind set and gives you the power

you need. My husband found contract work immediately w/overtime for

the next four weeks then was told on a Friday he wouldn't be needed

until further notice. He came home defeated and called an old

acquaintance to see if they knew of any positions. It seemed like a

Godsend when he found out that his contact had heard of his layoff and

had been trying to reach my husband for weeks w/a great job offer. He

has been there quite happily for a month now.

You are fortunate in that you weren't kicked out the door and have

some time and options open to you. This new company must need

employees. Is there any way to contact them and apply for a position?

Have you heard of the book " The Secret " by Rhonda Byrne? It has gotten

us through these uncertain times along w/our faith and given us peace

so we can think w/out fear and panic dominating our decisions.

The basics are; thoughts are things, they can be measured, live in

gratitude (notice the things you have to be grateful for daily, focus

on what you DO want and it will come to you (just as if you focus on

what you don't want, it too will come to you). It is based on the law

of attraction. Imagine what you want to attract, money coming to you

from expected and unexpected ways, good health, feeling secure, etc.

It really works. The more you practice the better it works.

I also wanted to thank you for all the hard work you put into this

website. It is a rock for so many people. It is the glue that helps us

feel connected in what can be a hostile world.

You have a lot of talent, skill and heart . Be confident and

climb through that window. There is a whole bunch of hands locked

together offering you the boost you need to climb up. Ask yourself

" What CAN I do? "

I know I speak for most of those on this website when I say I look

forward to hearing about the positive outcome from this temporary setback.

Best wishes,

Karmyn
