Hi Teri

May I also extend happy Thanksgiving thoughts to you, and all fellow

Americans. I am sure I speak for everyone when I say special thoughts

are with you this year in particular.

Good luck with your surgery on December 7th, I am absolutely sure you

will be fine, and hopefully swooshing free!!!! I am seeing a

neurosurgeon tomorrow evening, which will probably result in major

surgery on my spine sometime after Christmas, although I am hoping of

course that this will not be necessary, but neurosurgeons really only

operate, or send you away. Well so I am reliably informed anyway.

I have a holiday from 5-12 December in Lanzarote, so hoping that some

winter sunshine will set me in good stead.

I will happily say prayers for you.

Best wishes

UK

Re: Thanksgiving

Thanks for the " happy thanksgiving " thoughts, Pierre. We sure need

to be thankful for all the freedoms, love, opportunities, etc., that

we have in America, and be thankful that we ARE Americans (no offense

to any other countries).

I haven't posted lately, because my IGAN has been fine and my BP meds

have been keeping my BP regulated. I've also had to concentrate on

an ear problem I've had for 7 years, but that has recently got more

annoying. I hear a " swooshing " noise in my right ear, almost like

hearing a fetus' heartbeat on an ultrasound. I've been able to deal

with this for 7 years because I usually only noticed it at night or

when it was really quiet.

For some reason, in the last couple of months the noise has gotten

louder and I hear it all day/night long. It's driving me insane, so

I decided to talk to an ENT about anything that could be done. The

only medical thing they can do for me is a surgery in which they go

in through the neck (under the jawline) and tie off the internal

jugular vein branch that goes around the ear. The bloodflow through

this vein is what is making so much noise.

I'm having this surgery on Fri., Dec. 7th. It's a short day surgery,

although I'm pretty nervous about it and a little upset about having

a small scar on my neck. But I'll worry about that later. I would

appreciate any prayers (for those of you who pray).

Hope everyone is doing okay with their IGAN. Maybe we could get an

update from everyone, since the postings have been slow lately?

I hope you are as healthy as can be !And yes the postings have been slow

lately and Pierre i miss the ranting of ,was it Sam?,the constant complaints

and the the everyday problems solved here.

I read the groups everyday but lately have found them to be slowing down.

Seems like everyone is healthy and i hope they are.As for me just to update

i am in the alternate day 40 mg predisone therapy and i am in my 5

week.Moods have calmed down and things look positive .i will be going in for

my 24hr pee-in-red-jug on the 28th of this month and hope fully the

prednisone is working!

anyways that my 2 bits for the day

god be with you teri!

Well, ranting and complaints are always welcome, as long as they have

something to do with IgAN : )

Good luck with your pee collection Dave.

Last question....

The tip of my index finger is numb....No feeling ( maybe slight tingling).

No history of trauma or injury. Also, i have an small xemic rash on my

leg that does not go away or change in size....Are these related to IgAN????

Could be. Is the rash purple-ish? Some people believe that IgAN is a subset

of the disease HSP, that is, only the renal manifestations. There are some

cases where there is a bit overlap and patients get some HSP symptoms in a

minor way. Don't know about the numb fingertip. My guess would be a BP med

side effect - nothing to worry about. I'm not a doctor though.
