Hi there, it must be catchy, hurting one's foot. I sprained my ankle about

4 weeks ago and pulled all the ligaments. I am still going to the physio.

Believe it or not I stood on the dog's bone and it was wet and slippery and

I went over on my ankle.

This is the first time I have had a look at my emails for some weeks, about

500 odd of them. We have just been to Sydney. It was the first time in about

30 years for me and my husband had never been. We actually went mainly to

see the Eagles in concert. We did enjoy ourselves.

I haven't had a good year with the bronch so the break away was really

welcome. I have had 4 lots of antibiotics and 3 lots of predisone in the

last few months and feel that I have come up against a brick wall as far as

my doctor is concerned. I get the feeling from some of your emails that a

lot of doctors are much the same. I seem to be making far more mucus than I

ever did and wonder why. It also makes me cough more and it sounds awful

and I am sick of comments at work, I don't really feel that sick though, not

any more than usual anyway.

Anyway thats it for now, bye bye.

Hi Pam. you lucky thing, that was a wonderful concert wasn,t it, I had a few

friends that flew to Sydney for it too.

As far as your cough, have you tried the potato water.

It really does help.

Just boil up some spuds till really well cooked, and pour off the water into

a jug, and drink warm, and drink often, its amazing how much it helps get

the muck up. and you can add garlic, ginger, parsnip etc, but spud juice,

warm works wonders I promise.

I still drink it when I,m not unwell.

I have just got myself in the habit now.

pour off enough to warm up another mug full in the micro wave in the

mornings too.

Any way give it a go. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Bye for now,

Sandy

Sorry, I made a mistake, I meant the lobe would be removed not replaced. Thanks June for your encouragement. You always have time to cheer us up. " L." wrote:

Joy,

Sorry you were left so confused by your pulmonologist.

Just to share a little of my experience: I've had lifelong asthma and at times had breathlessness, but it wasn't until I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis that I've experienced breathlessness everyday!! So I just wonder why he seem to be so hard on you.

The actual definition of bronchiectasis is:

Bronchiectasis is a serious lung disorder caused by the inreversable dilation of the bronchioles of the lung. The symptoms are breathlessness, asthma, bronchitis and severe lung congestion.

Hope you feel better and stay encouraged. :)

Joy, my

previous specialist did something similar. Would tell my family one thing, and

me another. That’s another reason I ditched him.

Your doctor has

no right whatsoever to keep things from you. And he has no business telling

your kid’s stuff that he’s not telling you.

He should be

doing everything in your presence. If he’s upsetting you, he’s not

worth having.

BTW, you cannot

replace a lobe; once it’s gone it’s gone. (you wrote: We discussed

my Bronchiectasis and the problem of the bad lobe that needs to be replaced.)

And yes,

breathlessness is part of bronch!! Your doctor has gone crazy!

Hi Joy, I recently had a one week hospital stay with pneumonia. I know I had it for weeks before the xray actually confirmed the pneumonia. I felt really weak, hurt all over, coughed day and night, and couldn't breathe without wheezing, pain, and tightness in my chest. I did have a fever, mostly low grade 99-103 for a week and half before I was put in the hospital. Once AB's were started with solumederol, I started to feel better. I was actually happy when the ER doctor told me I had pneumonia, cause I was beginnning to think I would feel this way all the time with asthma, bronch, sinusitis, and gerd. I have continued to improve and I've been home 10 days. I did 7 days of AB's (Avelox 400mg) and I'm still on 10mg a day of prednisone. Of course I use my bronchial dialators, neb, acapella and I just got my Groosan nasal flush machine I ordered on line. I'm trying to do everything I know to help prevent infection. Joy, I actually think I had pneumonia before the fever ever came because of how poorly I felt. Hope something I've said helps. I had surgery on my sinuses last August and per the last CT scan, I was told they are empacted again and the polyps have grown back and they want to do surgery again once I'm totally well from the down time with pneumonia. I just keep hoping all the preventative care I'm doing is somehow helping and I won't have to do surgery again...:) Need Doctors attention

I need some advise from the group. I worry a lot about getting pneumonia. I have had it three time recently. I was doing pretty good till I started inhaling Tobi. Since that I have been coughing my fool head off. I have almost lost my voice. This Tobi I take ten days each month to help stay clear of infections. Does anyone know if you have pneumonia will you run a fever??? I guess the Doctor left me with the impression that if I didn't run a fever I probably don't have an infection??? I am not sure if I heard him correctly or not. I don't go back to see him till August and then we are going to decide or I should say if I am going to decide to have the surgery. The Doctors have already made up their mind. I have had so much surgery in the past five years just the thought of another scares me. I had Sinus surgery a few weeks ago and that has been a plus for me. I just hate to call the Doctors and ask questions. I know that is why we have them, but sometimes they can give you the impression that you should know a lot more than what I do. I hope this finds all of you doing better today. Sending love and prayers your way. love Joy

Thanks for the information. I am feeling some better today. This is such an aggravating disease. Its seems we are constantly doing something to get better. I know it could be a lot worse like (cancer) I always enjoy reading your emails you have such good advise for us and you have such a big heart. You stay positive and always seem to lift us up. I sure hope things are going better for you. I did get a Pari nebulizer and I like it so much better than the one I was using, which was an invacare. I am going to check into getting a Grossan nasal flush machine. I have been on avelox many times. I have so much trouble taking strong antibiotics due to the pouch I have it works against it. I was in the hospital in April with pneumonia for a week and came home and got much sicker. They still want to remove a lobe from the lung on right side but I still am dragging my feet. Hope you have a nice

day. Sending love and prayers Love Joy tThis group is the best thing that happened to me. I have found out so much more about this disease and things to do for it. It's wonderful to be a part of the family. Hope all is well for most of you today. -Original Message-----To: bronchiectasis Sent: Sat, 9 Jul 2005 09:14:11 -0700 (PDT)Subject: Need Doctors attention

Hi Joy:

I'm so sorry to hear about your family's fire - you are so smart to stay away

from it, as it is another source of coughing problems. I'm so glad all the

people are OK! How frightening it must have been for all of them. Do you

think the 2-year-old is reacting in any way to the fire - picking up on the

stress

everyone else is feeling.

In my time, I've had to clean up after a horrible flood and a horrible fire

my daughter had. One is as bad as the other, let me tell you - stinky, messy,

distructive - YUCK!

Hang in there, and enjoy that little one's smiles when they do come!!!
