Guest guest
here has been studies done by the geiers on lupron therapy, that has been the only things i have heard of on Purcosous puerty Could you help me? Dear Dr. McCandless and Group: My daughter is 10 year old and she was diagnosed autistic in November 2002. One year ago she began earlier puberty and the breasts have grown up quick. Now it looks like the menses will come soon. Two weeks ago we got a suggestion to use Decapeptyl Depot (3,75 mg)/ month for breaking the puberty, but I have been told that Decapeptyl Depot should be used when the puberty just started and now it is too late for her. Is it true? Should she take the Decapeptyl Depot now? She has been treating DMSA chelation 5 rounds, does Decapeptyl Depot have any side-effects against the DMSA chelation? Could she continue the DMSA chelation while she takes Decapeptyl Depot ? Could you help me? Thank you! Guest guest
Vicky.. just FYI, Dr. McCandless usually chimes in if she knows answer if nobody else answers a post but she is out of the country for several more weeks with very spotty internet access so I doubt she will be on the list unless that changes. I'd post this on some other general ASD lists like CK2 and ABMD perhaps to get chance for more replies. Dr. JM will seldom also make a treatment recommendation for a specific child since she is not familiar with the case or testing etc.. she is great though to make general comments. She always emphasizes that she does not want to contradict what another physician has recommended if they are more up to speed on the child's total care. Best of luck and when my child was in treatment while on spectrum, I usually posted, googled and then weighed all the info to make decisions along with my child's doctor (Dr. JM). I wish you luck and hope you get some responses. All the best, Moderator > > Dear Dr. McCandless and Group: > > My daughter is 10 year old and she was diagnosed autistic in November > 2002. Guest guest
Vicky, my daughter is 10 and developed breast buds at about 6 along with other signs such as pubic hair, body odor and such. She was followed by an endocrinolologist for several years closely and discharged at 8, since 8 is considered early normal for puberty in girls and so they would not treat her if she actually began puberty. They did lab work occasionally to see if she was actually going through puberty- homones, bone age, GNRH stim test (not positive on that one but could look it up), and they were as thorough as a mainstream university doc could be. Even though she was developing externally, she was not going through puberty and still hasn't begun her period. I talked to Geier one day and he said she may even begin her period late and I have read studies that confirmed this statement. I think Theresa Binstock posted them on this list, but a goggle search will pull them up. It is sad and disturbing to see early development, but id doesn't mean her period will necessarily begin and I would definitely do the lab work before even considering these drugs, which I'm not sure if mainstream doctors would give a 10 year old. Practical tip- Old Navy sells bras as small as size 6 or 7- you are not alone. Kathy
Guest guest
What about natural progesterone cream (without parabens) to balance the effect of harmful environmental estrogens (xenoestrogens)? They discuss this at length in Dr. R. Lee's books, " What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Pre-Menopause " and " What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause. " I have used it myself, but I have no idea whether or not a 10 year old girl should use natural progesterone cream. ~ ----Original Message Follows---- Reply-To: csb-autism-rx To: csb-autism-rx Subject: Re: Could you help me? Guest guest
Have you had her hormone levels tested?? As someone who has suffered premature ovarian failure (due to the use of " fake " hormones in birth control pills), I would be very careful about using any hormones to disrupt her cycle. There is a very delicate interplay between estrogen and progesterone in the human body that goes beyond the simple role of ovulation and menstruation. Two books I would reccommend to learn about the female body are " Screaming to be Heard " by Dr. Vliet and " Sex, Lies and Menopause " by T.S. Wiley While both books focus more on menopause, there is so much information about the roles of hormones in our bodies, that I have always said, if I had a daughter, I would make her read them as a young adult, so she could understand how her body works. Best of luck to you and your daughter, in Houston > > > > Dear Dr. McCandless and Group: > > > > My daughter is 10 year old and she was diagnosed autistic in > November > > 2002.
