Guest guest
Thanks, Cheryl. I should be admitted late today or tomorrow (hopefully). Good luck with your writing group today, and take good care of yourself. Will be in touch on my return - I'm usually in for about 12 days, if all goes well. Love Bunny ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry to hear that Bunny. I hope it all works out well for you. I’ve had my writing group today – five and a half hours, plus an hour’s drive each way. Very, very tiring, but worth it. Resting up well tomorrow! Guest guest
Not sure what I can tell you except that I have a transfusion of Intragam every four weeks. I have low immunoglobulin, and I’m told it’s IgA. I have no idea of what this means exactly except that my immune system is deficient. Guest guest
No reason you can’t drink alcohol or fly. I do the latter, but don’t partake of the former. Lol Depending on the severity, you may not need to change anything. As I have an immune deficiency as well, I had to modify my life – to keep away from contagious people mainly. That included not going out to a day job. Fatigue can be a big part of this condition, so not doing too much is a major plus. Definitely keep away from smoke (of any sort) and smokers. Particularly the latter. And if you smoke (heaven forbid!) quit right now. It will make you much worse. It will probably be one of those things where you just have to play it by ear until you know how it will affect you, if at all. And don’t be afraid to ask anything. It’s the only way you will learn. My IgA was high in the last test. Do you, or anyone else knows if moderate amounts of alcohal is OK. Wine or spirits for people with Bronc. Also, is air travel going to make it worse? Sorry to be asking such trivial stuff. As you can see, I have no clue how my life would change after the diagnosis. Best Cutie
Guest guest
Cheryl do you know the cause of the immune deficiency? Is it genetic or is it of unknown origin? I've had a couple of blood tests to check my immunity. Would that be the same problem? Theresa Cheryl wrote: Hi , the prednisolone was used regularly to help control infections. It doesn’t do anything for the immune deficiency. The transfusions generally help build up a person’s system, but unfortunately this isn’t working for me. I’ve been told to be prepared to have the transfusions for the rest of my life. Guest guest
The immune deficiency is related to the bronch. Approx 25% of those with bronch will get it. yes, they pick it up from a blood test. Guest guest
Theresa , my whole family on my mums side, now myself and my daughters and sister all suffer from extremely low immune system however mine worsened 2 years ago, when I actually died during surgery, after that I died 3 times in the short space of less than a year, causing heaps more problems. But it is genetic with our family, mostly the females so far. Sandy
Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, my heart goes out to you with your mum. I wish I could get my mother assessed. She just wont go. Now she cant walk because of swollen feet. The dr said there is nothing he can do, it is her age and health and arthritis. It is 12month wait to see the podiatrist. Today I bought a wheel chair but trying to get her into it is another saga. Both her and my dad live with us and poor dad is at his wits end, but if I arrange to have someone come to the house I know there would be hell to pay. I am mentally exhausted but tomorrow is another day. Now with my husbands health problems too and looking like surgery I just dont know where it will all go from here. Still can always smile...hugs LeeSend instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com
