Guest guest
Hello, We have a new family joining us today! Here is what she had to say.... Hello, My name is Kathy. I have a daughter, , who is 20-years-old with mosaic DS. has finished school and we are now at a transition point. She is very high functioning, and also extremely aware that she is somewhat different, leading her to be quite introverted. She is shying away from traditional adult special needs programs because as she puts it, " they're just like Special Ed " . is struggling socially because she is obviously not like other 20 year old people - but she's not necessarily handicapped - leaving her in an odd social limbo, I am reaching out to others who may have similar children who are struggling to find their place in this world after traditional school is over. If anyone has any ideas or would like to share info I am open to any and all suggestions. Thank you. Kathy Miles Welcome Kathy! You have come to the right place. We have a few other parents that have or may already be going through what your going though now. We even have some self advocates on this egroup that may even help you as well.
