Guest guest
I understand your need to find a good sleep aid. I have tried many many things as well including Benedryl but found that it caused me to feel edgy and anxious the more I took it. I finally found a good sleep aid that works for me and I do not feel tired the next day. It is the store brand called Wal-Som. I get it at Walgreens. It is supposed to compare to the main brand Unisom Sleep Tabs. I have not tried the main brand because of price but the store brand works so well for me. Everyone is different though. It's worth a try. I know once I get 2 full nights worth of sleep, my pain during the day is cut in half or more. I have found that good sleep is the main most important thing in fighting this terrible illness. Donna Hi! I would like to ask if any of you have used a sleeo aid and if so what? What kind of drugs were tried and also what kind of natural sleep aids have you tried? I have heard of Benadryl and also of sleepy time teas and melatonin as an example and would like to know if you have treid these or any other ones? What do you find is best to get a good nights sleep maybe I should ask that as well. Thanks!

I find that when I do sleep and I have not had sleep troubles up till now and I have had this FMS for 18 years, that I do feel lots better the next day. The doctor gave me the Elavil ( again ) another doctor gave it to me and I did not get any where. But this doctor wanted me to try again. Been on it a month and I am finding that now for the past three days I have a head that wants to blow away and I am like dahhhhhhhh till noon. I am taking 25 and was to go to 50. I want to ask you if you take this Wal-Som every night? How much do you take and can it be taken with thyroid meds do you know? I am going to talk to the doctor today and see if I can stop this Elavil. But I have been hurting sooooooo bad and its making me anxious and also I notice if I get moving it helps me. Have you found that as well? Pat > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I will have to agree with you because my most painful days is when I get barely any sleep. If I get a full night's sleep, not only is my pain lessened but the brain fog is lessened too. Maybe we should spend extra special attention to our sleep habits. You never know maybe Fibromyalgia could be a sleep disorder that leads to many consequenses. Guest guest
Hi Pat, I know we are all different, but I have tried tricyclics at night ie. Nortriptyline (Pamelor) a sister med of Elavil, but apparently with less side effects. I still was too groggy during day although did sleep well. I have tried Melatonin on several occasions, .5-2mg...generally 'outof it' next day, but I sleep...so I can't do it, but works for some. I do sleepy time.chamomile teas and digestive teas/peppermint...helps a touch...sometimes. Some people do well with Valerian root as herbal relaxant. Currently and for last year or so I take Zyrtec-antihistamine for drowsy...allergies...and have taken BENADRYL as well...might go back to it as it is cheaper! It's the only thing that doesn't give me a hang over... all other heavy duty meds like Restoril do...and Ambien only puts me out for 3-4 hours..then am up...not good for immune system I don't think. KLONOPIN at .5mg-1mg has had success for MANY and I have used on off for years too. Neurologists feel generally safe in prescribing...can have build up effect...and cause drowsy next day...but is better than anti anxiety like lorezapam which has more dependency... anyway..that's all I got...good luck! jenny jenny patterson 2320 wisconsin ave nw #501 washington, d.c. 20007 hm cell __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Fibros " perceive light and sound as being much more important than they are " . Wearing an eye mask and ear plugs to bed to block out all light and all sound will let you get to deep, restorative sleep quickly, and stay there all night. It is the single best thing you can do for your FMS. It also usually stops Restless Leg Syndrome immediately. Anne at www.FibroFix.com Re: Sleep aids! Guest guest
I would like to find something that would help me sleep too. Benadryl, melatonin, elavil, unisom all don't work for me. Elavil doesn't help me fall asleep but it helps me in other ways. Right now I'm pregnant and can't take anything anyway. I take 1/2 unisom at night to help with morning sickness but it doesn't do anything for sleep. I've been waking up at 3:00 or 4:00 lately and can't go back to sleep. -- Sleep aids! Hi! Guest guest
I have found some sleepless relief from taking 5 tryptophan and also taurine. , 5HTP right?...in a supplement combined w/Taurine or separate?...Just curious, what dose work for you?..and if in combo, a name brand?..I would love if I could use amino's to help. I have taken 5HTP at 50mg in past (for sleep/raise serotonin levels)...helped for awhile, then I was awake...but I know taurine can make me tired so maybe work in combo with. Thank You jenny patterson 2320 wisconsin ave nw #501 washington, d.c. 20007 hm cell __________________________________________________
