I don't know about the second one.

's ribs may have crossed. Mine do that sometimes and it is an

awful pain and causes breathing difficulties. If I sneeze or cough I

tend to hold my ribs apart to prevent them from nipping the intercostal

muscles between the ribs.

You can take a horse to water but you cannot make it drink. Denial is

very hard to deal with but I guess the best person to teach your ex is

the doctors who have her medical records.

Sorry I have no magic want to give him the awareness of what is truly

happening to .

Hope it improves soon for her and will remember her in my prayers too.

Dear ,

It is really hard to say what is causing this bone to stick out, but my guess

is it is a subluxed or dislocation some where in the chest/rib area, or very

possibly a fracture due to other subluxations or dislocations. The only

problem is if they are taking her to a doctor that does not know her history,

and does not know what EDS is, and common problems with it, it will not be of

much help. Is she breathing OK? How far away is she from you? If she is

somewhat close by, can you go get her so she can get the proper medical care?

Not surewhat it could be.. how old is she??? YOu really should go take

her to get a baseline x ray and then keep recehcking it monthly to

monitor it and see if it gets worse... As far as your ex.. well no

suggestions... they can beb stubborn.. we'll all ahve to pray on that

one for you...

My daughter got her permit when she turned 16. She just turned

17, completed drivers education over the summer and is scheduled to take

her road test on Oct. 12th. She's not as natural a driver as her brother

was, but she is coming along. I don't know if she will pass her drivers test,

but then again, it took her brother 3 tries and he is a pretty good

driver. I guess we'll see soon enough.

You know your child better than anyone. Having them drive is scary stuff,

but in our case, we thought it worth giving her the opportunity to try to

obtain her license. She can't wait to be able to drive herself to school.

I'm not sure I'm as enthusiastic.

Debbie - That's great to hear.  I'm not sure why that subject has been

important to me - our daughter is only 6 (but has older siblings who drive). 

When you think about all the other challenges our children face, I guess driving

is less important but I still always wondered.  If you don't mind me asking,

how tall is your daughter?  I often wonder if our Molly will we tall enough to

drive?  Silly question I know - but thanks for the info ....

My daughter is just shy of 5 feet tall. She moves the seat forward a bit

and has not trouble reaching the peddles. This morning she drove on the

expressway for the first time. Of course, it was 8:30 on a Sunday morning, so

not many other cars on the road. Her father did not come back yelling, so

I guess that was a good sign!

I'll let you know if she passes her road test.

I know my sister-in-law drives and she is only 4' 9 " - so my daughter (who

is only 11 now and 4' 6 " ) will probably be taller than her and I hope she

makes 5 feet! I am not sure if I want her driving because her attention

span is very small and unless she can show me that she can concentrate on

driving - it is not going to happen. But she has 5 years to mature and show

me she can do it - I did not start driving until I was 17 - so maybe as she

ages, she can drive -

We live in rural PA - there is no public transportation anywhere around us.

Yes, there was a written test. In New York, they actually practice tests

online. Not sure about New Jesey.

It is scary, but on Long Island there is very little public

transportation. She seems to be doing okay so far.

My bff, Katz, has MDS and she drives (all the time!). She also has a

college degree and she is working on another, as well as publishing a couple of

books.

Was there a written test that had to take? My is now 16 but

has not asked about it. I am not sure if she would even pass the written test.

And mentally she is not like a 16 year old. She is naive also and I am not sure

I can see her driving. Just thinking about how it was when I taught my older

two to drive I can't imagine her driving. There are so many things to look out

for when driving I am not sure her attention would be on every danger.
