Guest guest
Thanks Del that is really helpful. What has happened now you are off it, this is what worries me that the symptoms will just return when you finish which is exactly what my friend has found and she is 63! Don't just want to prolong things. My Brompton consultant said if my periods stopped then the problem would resolve itself and they might be able to do that by hormonal tweaking whatever that meant. What I can't understand is my blood tests say menopausal but try telling that to my body, I have the same regular periods I've had all my life! Nice to hear a doctor who says some women can't manage without, I was always determined to be as natural as possible, I loathe taking drugs of any kind. But now I'm having to change my views somewhat. I'm leaning towards taking Progesterone supplements for 10 days each month, think it's going to be a trail and error thing till I find the right treatment just as it was with the asthma. Have come to the decision that being able to breathe comfortably takes precedence over anything else! Guest guest
Cheryl I quite agree with you about natural products. Just looked up your Promensil and it has virtually the same ingredients as the natural supplement I am taking but under a different name. It has certainly helped the flushes etc. but not this awful feeling I can't breathe. Apparently according to a lady on my asthma group, her consultant told her that low Porgesterone can make you feel breathless and affect the efficiency of your breathing. If the natural stuff doesn't stop this then I will have to get something more powerful. Going to discuss Progesterone supplement for the bad 2 weeks, apparently you can do this. Hopefully see my GP next week and have a chat, I trust her judgement absolutely, she has been a tower of strength for me. Hope you are well today Love June > I was on HRT for thirteen years. Guest guest
Hi , yes I am being more diligent about the Postural drainage although pinning hubby down to do it is sometimes hard as he works long days. The breathing and huffing exercises I was taught at Brompton are helping, don't seem to be having to make quite so much effort to cough up. The biggest problem is time, when I work it is a rush to get my nebuliser session then P/D etc before starting work. This morning it has been a blissful Saturday, had a long hot jacuzzi bath, my massage pad then nebuliser and P/D, brilliant. Just wish I had that time available every day. For the first time in my life retirement does seem quite a nice idea. Yes I am on a permanent campaign to stop smoking everywhere, Britain is light years behind the world on this issue and it is my big issue! Love June > june and del, > i agree with all you said about HRT, del.....i was on > it for 6 years because i had no risk factors....i'm 61 > now and still have hot flashes occasionally but > otherwise am fine.......came off hrt 18months ago as i > thought i should be 'over it' by then!!!!!LOL > > june, don't know if this helps at all. > if you have the energy i say to try to get no smoking > for the pubs you enjoy. > are you doing your inhaler/flutter valve and drainage > every day????........i'm keeping my eye on you!! > > jennifer > > > > soft ocean breezes > > ______________________________________________________________________ > Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca > >
Guest guest
We are all so different aren,t we DEl, I was on all kinds of HRT therapies, provera also being one, none really helped a lot, but they did just slightly stop the hor flushes, but I had the worst asthma attacks ever in my life while on HRT, one day in the hospital( I had the patches on), the doc, ordered them to take them off and see how I went, within 6 hrs asthma so much better, So as I say they tried all over the next 6 months, I was allergic to the whole lot, even caused an angina attack. Thats why I turned to all natural therapies. One of the natural Provera, promensil, was tried again about 4 years later, but with the history of cancer, they took me off them too. I just use all the naturals now, foods etc, and no signs of any reason to take HRT at all. I do sometimes get what I call the 3 day blues( miserables) but not so bad I could KILL , LOL, I find it interesing reading so many with asthma able to manage the various forms of HRT, as I say, it really provoked my asthma terribly. Again, we are all different, all individual, unique beings, with some things in common and others so different. Sandy
Guest guest
Well said Cheryl, promensil comes in two doses now, and is available at supermarkets. I found it ok till I became so allergic, but I now don,t use anything just au natural, heaps of ginger etc, especially at the time I would normally had a period. I had a hysterectomy 12 years ago,and its around the old period time, I get more asthma, and worse R/A. Thats all though. Ginger and celery too, also capsicums help. cheers again, Sandy
Guest guest
I didn,t put weight on either whilst on HRT, but I did get really unwell a lot of times, and came off all, but definately no weight gain. I think most who gain weight need to see their doc, as it probably is fluid retention, and more water or some form of diuretic, amy help.
