Guest guest Posted July 22, 2008 Report Share Posted July 22, 2008 Greetings: It has been a big day for Savage in the media. He was on the Larry King show tonight. Anyone seen it? Comments?? He is standing behind his words and claims they were just part of a 3 hour broadcast where he was attacking the medical community in general for over diagnosing children with disabilities at an early age and the fraud of some that don't have it using the system for their gain.. He was followed by a panel discussing ASD's. He made a statment that I found interesting when referring to the Austim Spectrum, when someone wears eye glasses they do not consider themselves as having a blind spectrum syndrome and request or demand all benefits that legally blind people are entitled to by law. I am paraphrasing. I work with some folks who before today felt he is not totally wrong. Offensive, blunt? Yes. No so much about autism, but diabilites in general and how we dx., treat, system abuse, etc.. in the USA. Comments? Who wears glasses on occassion and does not consider myself on the blind spectrum <wink> It is an interesting anaolgy????? I don't like him and that is just personal, but he might have a point here and WHY some folks have a problem with some adults that hold degrees or jobs compared to some in a restricted enviroment/non verbal with round the clock care with the same label????
