Guest guest
It's Ok. We guys won't peek while you ladies discuss this. We'll go and watch some American football bowl games on TV or something Seriously though, I don't think much has been written about this subject with respect to women. Chronic kidney disease certainly is known to cause rather undesirable problems in that area for men. Pierre Malt wrote: Hi Friends Me again? Perhaps you can see why I said I was challenging to my Neph......always questions? Now this is a delicate matter, and particulary aimed at the ladies with IGAN.....has anyone noticed that sexual activity has become painful since diagnosis? I suffer with real bad flank pain afterwards, and low abdomen and groin pain......admittedly I have a urine dynamic test coming up in January to check bladder function etc.......my Neph said he has heard of similar complaints before now, but surprise surprise, it has not been proven medically that IGAN can cause sexual activity pain? But he did hint that IGAN can clash with hormone balances, which can cause this type of problem. Thoughts anyone? Has taken me ages to pluck up the courage to post this, but I have done it now. Guest guest
: I'd have to say I concur with you -although I didn;t know IgA has some kind of hormonal involvement. Although I always thought my pains had to do with the myalgias that was associated with this disease. I seem to also have the most incredible pains (just recently) during ovulation affecting my abdoment and flank pain. But heck I thought it was all a part of being a woman. Tell me more about what your doc said about this hormonal aspect. Carolyn Delicate matter? > Hi Friends > > Me again? Guest guest
Carolyn Well what can I say, here are two ladies with similar complaints, so maybe there is something in it. I got a bit peed off with my Neph to begin with because he tried to dismiss my complaint re: sexual activity as 'honeymoon bladder' well I am 40 and have been sexually active since age 18, rather a long honeymoon I replied!!! After pushing him further he admitted that he has seen several ladies with IGAN who complain of same or similar symptoms. He was vague in his explanation but did say that he thought that renal problems can be closely linked to hormonal inbalances which in turn affect the gynae regions. He said that some ladies had severe bloating during the run up to the monthly cycle (absolutely in my case), and flank pain is caused by pressure during activity, which radiates up to the kidney. He said the best person to help with this would be a urologist, who I am under, and as I said due to see in 2 weeks. I will let you know how I get on. In the meantime I am confident in being able to tell you that I have been seen by a gyneacologist who gave me a clean bill of health, and confirmed that he felt my problems related to kidney problems......I suffer heamaturia and apparently kidney blood or protein loss can irritate the nether regions so to speak. I think I need to research this area much more closely, and intend to do so, it is bad enough having to live with this condition, without it spoiling your love life dont you agree. Lucky for me I have a understanding and supportive other half. Be in touch ok. Best wishes Re: Delicate matter? : I'd have to say I concur with you -although I didn;t know IgA has some kind of hormonal involvement. Guest guest
I'm not exactly an expert on this stuff, but I think I remember reading somewhere in some research that some of the symptoms of IgA can be confused with Fibromylgia. My sister in fact was diagnosed with this complaint last year, so we're wondering if it isn't part of the same strains caused by the same genetic makeup. Walt > Hi Friends > > Me again?
