Guest guest
Hi , I know how you are feeling. Is it possible for you to have a hot shower and cough with the steam in the room. It helps get it up and the heat from the shower eases your weary body. I had 4 weeks of it last year and thought I was going to die but hey i didnt. You feel like you are so alone. Well you are not. we are here for you to vent what ever time it is. I also eat the garlic, onions drink green ginger wine everty night without fail. Is someone able to do your drainage with you?...I also use a steam machine with tea tree or eucalyptus oil. try everything. I ride a bike too but slowly. hope you improve soon. remember we are all here all the time...sending huge hugs to you. My husband Jim looked into taking me to Stanford Medical Center here in California for a 2nd opinion and I am so ready, pretty desparate to try something else that will help. Thank you all for listening to my middle of the night blues, I just had to vent and look for some help. I'm gonna go do a breathing treatment with neb and hopefully be able to get some more sleep. :)Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com
Guest guest
, Sorry to hear that you had one of “those” nights. I had those constantly in my early days with bronch. If I wasn’t taking a codeine cough syrup at the time, I used to find that drinking a really hot cup of water helped quiet things down enough to sleep at least for a little while. I think that the steamy bathroom works better, but you have to be willing to be awake long enough for that. My priority was to try to sleep as soon as I could. A second opinion couldn’t hurt. And, if you get the same answers, at least you’ll be assured that you are receiving the proper treatment. Barb help Hi Everyone, It's 2:30am and I am desparate to know what I can do to stop coughing. Guest guest
Hi , I feel for you so much, what you are going through is me this time last year. My asthma was out of control, the bronch was out of control and there were times when I wished I could die, truly. What turned me around was being referred to the best lung hospital in England, the Brompton in London. It's taken a long hard year but through painstaking investigation of what was going on in my lungs and fine tuning all my medicines they gave me my life back. You too will get to this stage and everyone on here will support you through it the same as they did for me. You need a plan of action here, what sort of specialist are you under. Bronch is very complex and needs a top notch doctor to treat it.Can't remember where you are but I know the top US hospital for this would be the National Jewish at Denver ( I keep an online diary with them to monitor my treatments) or the Mayo clinic in Arizona I think. 1)Speak to your current doc about the possibility of going to one of them. 2)CAT scan, have you had one, shows areas of damage and if anything can be done? 3)Asthma is it controlled or not, I find the asthma and bronch aggravate each other, double whammy. 4)Medications, what do you have and are they effective enough? 5)Postural Drainage do you do it (speak to our resident expert in Canada, ) 6)Nebuliser- really important part of my treatment, saline nebs break up gunk, Ventolin and Atrovent keep lungs open, this is my life line! 7)Steroids, are you on Pred. Hate the stuff but sometimes you need it to get thru bad patch, sounds like you need it 8)Natural approaches, healing foods (Sandy in Oz is our expert here)water therapy, steam inhalations, jacuzzi if you can use one is great.Massage for the aches. Essential oils to help breathing, Eucalyptus, Ravensara, Pine, Thyme, Myrhh all help. That's just a list to get you started, I found by trying to help myself as much as I could, I became more positive about getting better. I wonder if you were discharged too quickly? The sinus thing is also misery, for some reason Polyps often go hand in hand with Bronch, you do need them seen to but I wonder if you are strong enough for surgery just now? Forget about the exercise for the moment, just a gentle walk if you are up to it. I swim most days which helps a lot. Anyway , please lean on us, that is what our group is about, as each of us goes through a bad patch the rest prop that person up until she in turn is well enough to support the next person in trouble. Because of the time difference I will be working on my computer during the day if you are having a bad night so you just yell if you need me. Sending you a prayer of love and healing Hope this will help you on the road to recovery. Love June > Hi Everyone, > It's 2:30am and I am desparate to know what I can do to stop > coughing. Guest guest
I forgot to mention that we propped our bed up with 2 bricks either side of the head end. Lying flat allows the lungs to get waterlogged but sleeping propped up allows more drainage. It helped me a lot June > > , > Sorry to hear that you had one of “those” nights. Guest guest
, I'm sorry you are not recovering as quickly as you would like.........this bronch thing is quite unpredictable and with your previous infection it's probably going to need some more medical intervention. If I were you i would make an appointments-asap-to see your doctor. In the meantime, your breathing treatments should help and see if you can do postural drainage after your inhalers and try to move the mucus out, as it's probably blocking your bronchioles. I know that coughing makes your back and ribs hurt a lot. Do you have a heating pad you could use to help that? I think a second opinion is an excellent idea.....go for it. I do hope to hear better news very soon, it is depressing, but you will improve. soft ocean breezes __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hello , so sorry to hear you are so down, I know exactly how you feel. I have the lows too at the present, and its hard to see past it all. I would go with getting a 2nd opinion, it certainly can't hurt, its most advisable. i am an asthmatic, I have so many things wrong with me, so cannot excersise at all, just very, very short walks, and low impact stuff, from a chair or bed, and get physio. I cannot go up any kind of incline at all, even coming down is hard, breathless too. I have my asthma under total control at all times. I do wheeze etc several times a day, use my puffer about 4 times a day on a good day. But I don,t have infections. Haven,t for years. You may have infections, which play merry hell with all your health probs. I hope you get some sleep, learn all the breathing techniques you can for all occassions. I use one kind or another many times a day, wherever I am, whatever I,m doing. Must go, but once you have breathing techs, in full swing that they become 2nd nature to you, you will find you won,t let the breathlessness worry you, as you will just go straight into some kind of breathing pattern. Lots of hugs. Sandy(silly)
Guest guest
Hi Sandy, sorry you are still not well. I'm intrigued by your mention of breathing techniques, I was taught a few at the Brompton to clear lungs but what I need is one to deal with the feeling of breathlessness. Can you share that with us. The more I can't breathe the faster I do breathe and I know that's wrong! On a different tack I found another use of T Tree oil. When I went to the kitchen this morning I found my cupboards alive with ants, especially on the jar of honey I have. Sprinkled T Tree oil around and within 30 seconds they were all dropping dead. Very impressive and much safer than ant poison which I would not use. Never use any insecticide or poison with cats and kids. Am I right in thinking T tree comes from Australia, what is the tree like? It is amazing stuff. Right better do some work, see you later Much love June > Hello , so sorry to hear you are so down, I know exactly how you > feel. > I have the lows too at the present, and its hard to see past it all. > I would go with getting a 2nd opinion, it certainly can't hurt, its > most > advisable. > i am an asthmatic, I have so many things wrong with me, so cannot > excersise > at all, just very, very short walks, and low impact stuff, from a > chair or > bed, and get physio. > I cannot go up any kind of incline at all, even coming down is hard, > breathless too. Guest guest
June you can purchase foam under pieces( triangular, to raise the head end of bed, but you can also get from homedics a special triangle type back rest the keeps you up, like having the back of yourhospital bed up, at varied levels, they are not all that expensive, and they are wonderful, especially if you sleep with a hubby/ partner, they don't have to be upright like we do. Guest guest
Hi again June, I will post those breathing techs over the weekend when I have some more time to do so, as its a bit lengthy. Yep the tea tree oil is from OZ, its grown all over OZ too, we have many products made from it. it works for almost anything. I did post a few weeks ago, that its a great repellant for ants, and fleas etc, its great for almost everything and it really does work, another wonder piece of nature, just like the eucalyptus oils and its great uses, I havent been this bad for many years, but of course all different illness, not bronch, not asthma( well I have that, but totally controlled). The R/A the fibromyalgia and all these new lumps and things are getting the better of me. A cancer here there and everywhere, too. I rang to make an appt for an abdo scan, they won,t do it without a letter from my GP telling them how to deal with me should a problem occur, just great, he referred me to have the scan, there usually is a doctor on hand, but he is away, and we cannot wait till he returns, so now they won,t do the scans unless they have specific instructions and , now, they want me to get a doctor to come and be on hand. I asked why I cannot have it done in the hospital where there is a doctor on hand, and excuse--- no -one is equiped with enough knowledge, at the times the scanner is in action, can you believe that????? I really am so distressed about it all, as now I have added agony, and its coming from a huge lump( the one under the front ribs) I spoke of last week or so, I am so agonised by it all, and all I can have is morphine, and PF, and tramol, all three over a day, all at intervals as a pain regime, that truly is just taking the edge off some pain. I make sure I don,t take the morphine during day hrs, 4am and 9pm, that way can see properly as it blurrs my vision. I am under observation almost all the time, ( 3times a week) cannot have the physio, till the scans as the physio people are now worried. Its a darn nightmare. And the neuro stimulator isn,t working at all now either, they say the pain is what is causing the extra high BP. Any way, I am so pleased to see you give such great advise, will never forget how long it took for you to get the help and strength you needed, I,m sure will get there too, with all the great advice, and the support and love from this group. Hugs , and more hugs, Sandy(silly)
Guest guest
Sandy I am so sorry you are going through what sounds like absolute hell. The scanner story is incredible, is it a small hospital you go for the scan? Sounds like the lump needs to be removed to give you relief but I know that can be a problem for you. No one should have to go through what you are at the moment, I guess when things are this bad the only person you can turn to is God and ask for his help. The term God moves in mysterious ways is very true, I have difficulty in coming to terms with the fact that the best people in life are the ones who seem to have the worst problems, why? Yes Sandy you'd be proud of me now, if I cook veggies I save the water for drinking, carrot is my favourite and courgette is good, I mix it with the spud water which I don't like the taste of. I am amazed at how much better I am now but I realise is right you do have to work at it every day. Please take great care of yourself, sending more hugs and prayers and love for you And yes I do dream of the lottery win just so I can do good things with the money, not bothered about material things any more, just want to meet up with all my dear cyber friends and do some positive helping! Love June > Hi again June, I will post those breathing techs over the weekend when > I > have some more time to do so, as its a bit lengthy. > Yep the tea tree oil is from OZ, its grown all over OZ too, we have > many > products made from it. it works for almost anything. > I did post a few weeks ago, that its a great repellant for ants, and > fleas > etc, its great for almost everything and it really does work, another > wonder > piece of nature, just like the eucalyptus oils and its great uses, > I havent been this bad for many years, but of course all different > illness, > not bronch, not asthma( well I have that, but totally controlled). > The R/A the fibromyalgia and all these new lumps and things are > getting the > better of me. Guest guest
Though I would share this so you would know.. couple of months ago I had the same problem my emails stopped going to group. they were being rejected because of my anti spam. If your server has email spam settings this can be a headache.. It causes the group mail sometimes to be recongnized as spam. Also the yahoo spam setting for the groups can also go nuts a put your email on the spam list. I finally had to cut off all my anti spams to keep my yahoo groups email going smoothly.
