Guest guest
Our daughter develops red rashes when she has a yeast problem. Sulfates can cause a yeast flare up. We use Diflucan and I have a tube of Nystatin cream that I use on the rash. Probably not supposed to mix them but it helps. Shari Red Rashes -- what is this and what can I do? Dr. McCandless, My boy, 6 y.o. and on the Andy Cutler protocol (ALA, DMSA) is getting red rashes all over his body. He is also itchy. He had a low fever and is not eating much. He has been like this for 4 days. Is this possible a detox reaction? What does a detox rash look like? If so, what should I do? Could this be yeast or yeast detox reaction? We do have a fairly thorough yeast protocal in place. If so, what should I do? He is on your Vitamin A protocal. 3 months ago he did a 2-day high dose Vitamin A. He now maintains high Vitamin A by taking 20,000IU Vitamin A through cod liver oil. Could this be Vitamin A toxicity? He is also taking MB12 (every other day). I wonder if this is a reaction to the MB12? We are trying to figure out what is causing this. He is taking a break from chelation. We stopped the cod liver oil yesterday. Our DAN doctor is on vacation and don't know where to turn. Please advise.
Guest guest
First of all, you should ask Andy Cutler, since you are using his protocol and he probably has run across this phenomenon before and is usually helpful in answering such questions. 2nd, I do think it is wise to take a rest from the chelation until he feels better. Actually the lowgrade fever and anorexia is more worrisome than the rash. Detox rash is common and can take many forms, as the skin is quite reactive to poisons being excreted. Rashes vary, but are usually tiny non-blistering (villiform)rashes that occur in varying parts of the body, not usually all over at any one time, but can be all over too. Drinking lots of water often helps this clear up. Unless you started something new on his yeast protocol, I would doubt that's causing it. If you are giving all his Vit A through CLO you need to be sure you're not overdosing the Vitamin D that way. 20,000 of A alone will not cause toxicity. I usually advise parents to get the 1st 5000iu from CLO, which is plenty for most kids, and get the rest of their A through pure Vit A such as Klaire's Mycelized A (one drop is 5000iu). Unless you just started the MB-12 I doubt if that is causing the rash - this is not a frequent reaction to MB-12 and tends to occur shortly after starting when it does happen. If you can note whether any of his school mates have come down with anything that caused a rashe he might have picked up a virus from someone - call and ask his teacher to find this out. Roseola and German measles have fine rashes. I would watch and wait for temp and appetite to stabilize before resuming the CLO or the chelation. Guest guest
Dr. McCandless, The rashes are going away. He still has a loss of appetite but no fever. It really sounds like Rubella (German Measles). I researched this on google & the pictures match what my son has. My son received the MMR vaccine. Could this still be the Rubella? Thank you. Guest guest
It's possible the Rubella vaccine did not take. You can rest assured that actually having it (and it is a usually very mild self-limiting viral infection) that he will definitely be protected now. Glad he's feeling better.
