Guest guest
, I saw it was you...a few msgs down in my email lol. Wow where you live sounds so beautiful and i always wanted a farm. I grew up in the city and wed take trips to the country and farms/orchards ect and used to love it so much. When we moved down here I found this place and it has farms in all directions and all over place:) Must be pretty cold in n dakota though! You did such a good thing trying to help that kitty. My dad rescued a few kittens his landlord was going to ''get rid of'' and i nursed em for him and took care of them. One went to a friend and the other back to him! Good lookin out and I hope you are warmed up and taking care of yourself:) It was –7 here this morning. The past two nights have been bad, I have not been sleeping much. I can't seem to stay warm either. The doctors told me I needed to lose weight some time ago to make it easier on my joints. So now I'm skinny, and cold, AND my joints hurt… that was supposed to be funny btw. That's not what I wanted to write about though. I live on an old farmstead in rural North Dakota, it was a horse ranch many years ago. Now it's more of a hobby farm for 4H stuff for my kids, pigs, chickens, and stuff like that. Anyway, last spring this large white and brown spotted Farrell cat showed up. I'd see her when I'd be out on the tractor, or what have you, but she would never come near. I'd watch her, she'd watch me, that kind of thing. This place is pretty big, it's about five or six acres walk from the house out to the horse barn. When it's cold out, it's a real chore just to get out there some days. Since it's been getting colder I've noticed cat prints closer and closer to my barn. It was so bitter this morning, but something told me I needed to go out and check my barn. So I bundled up and hobbled out across the frozen pasture toward the horse barn. I stepped inside and something big several feet away from me moved and made a noise, it really startled me first thing in the morning. Here was this big pussycat in my barn. She was cold enough, and hungry enough not to fear me I guess, she started meowing at me, and after some coaxing, she came over to me. Her pads were so cold that she was agreeable after a time to let me pick her up and hold her and let her warm up on me. I felt so bad for her, so cold and shaking. I sat out there with her until I couldn't stand it anymore and started gimping my way back to the house. I knew better than to try to carry a wild cat, but she was desperate enough to follow. She followed me yowling the whole way. We have outbuildings all over the place, but only one of them is heated; it's a two-stall garage/shop. So now I have a new friend. I put down some food and water for her, and made her a warm bed near the heater. I didn't know what else to do for her, we'll see if she stays.
