Guest guest
As I'd mentioned in previous posts, my right ankle has zero resistance to inversion. At work, yesterday, I accidentally stepped at the edge of a 1/2 " thick steel plate on the floor, and my foot inverted 45 degrees before I caught myself. This was with having an ankle brace, and 6 " high work boots. This got me wondering if I should call my VA medical center, on Monday, and ask if they have any braces with more positive support than what I'm currently using? When I was there, on Tuesday, the O & P guy at the Prosthetics Clinic had told me that what I have is the same thing they'd issue, but I still figure it's worth finding out if they have anything better. This is the brace that I'm currently using: http://tinyurl.com/dkdt7 I was looking at ankle braces online, prior to posting this query, and am thinking I need something that'll basically immobilize my ankle from inversion/eversion, while not affecting other range of motion. Hopefully the VA medical center has something along the lines of a hinged stirrup brace, or regular stirrup brace, as it would avoid whatever paperwork I'd need to complete, in order to be reimbursed by the VA, if I have to buy my own. Does anybody have any suggestions (brand & model) for a better ankle brace, if I do have to buy my own? Matt
