My daughter was about 15 months old when she had her MRI and she was also

sedated. They gave her verced and fentanyl in a nose spray while I held her.

Then as she drifted off and got real sleepy and relaxed, they took her and put

her on the bed and the anesthesiologist gave her a mask with Provotol(sp), to

sedate her. Her scan was for brain and spine and took about an hour and a half.

She cam out from under very quickly and had no side effects what soever. She was

a little sleepy the rest of the day but no nausea or crankiness.

Yes, if your child is very young then they will sedate, but this is certainly

something you will know ahead of time because you cannot give them any food for

a certain time period before hand.

I hope this helps.

Can someone please tell me how this is going to happen? I can't see

my little man laying still for and hour for an MRI. They said he

won't be asleep but he will be tired.

, Thanks so much. They did say he couldn't eat or drink

before. We have the paperwork. I just didnt know how they were

going to relax him without anestisia (sp) because they said he

wouldnt be having that. Thanks so much for the reply. He goes in on

tuesday morning so I guess we will know more then.
