Guest guest
My goodness what a wonderful blessing, Sherry! I am so very happy for all of you. It's a day to remember with great joy. Thank you dear, for sharing such a happy experience. Love a lot, and hope she plays her heart out. What a joy! (the administrator) told me on the phone that she came in the door, looked around, and said, " I'm HOME!!! " The aides and the staff were all SO STOKED about the piano surprise, they were dragging her to the activity room, so excited...she got there and saw her piano and started crying! (Probably much like I am doing right now...) I sent my husband over there to take pictures, and he had her call me on his cell phone. She was so happy, she was like a little kid. She said she couldn't believe that all the people there and her family would do that for her, she was sure her piano would have been sold by now, and that now she knew she was truly home. She started crying again because she was so moved...and I started crying...it was so great! And she said that the people there must really care about her to let her have the piano - which was the whole point of wanting it to be THEIR surprise gift to her. I did explain that she donated it to King's, and she said, " Well since I'm going to be living here anyway, I'll have it with me! " So not only the piano, but also her frame of mind about accepting her living arrangements, seem to be good today. And that makes me very very happy! I can't wait to see her tonight and give her a huge hug! Today, I have been blessed beyond belief!!!!!!! I can't wait to get off work at 5:00 and get over there! (Next month I will be getting an internet card for my computer, then I can work at King's sometimes; I use a cell phone and the internet to do my job but because I have to have the 'net access - which isn't available at King's - I'm tied to the house from 9-5 every day. Once I get the cell 'net access, I can just grab my laptop and go work anywhere.) His, Sherry www.owly.net ------------------------------------ Welcome to LBDcaregivers. Guest guest
Sherry thank you for sharing such an endearing story. I hope the positive attitude remains, that your mother gets much enjoyment playing her piano and that the new roomy works out well. I have to wonder about LBD and ability to play, both physically and cognitively. That will be interesting to follow. I hope she keeps the ability for a long long time. Guest guest
You've got that right! For it to all come together as it did, it wasn't an accident . I just uploaded a little collage of pictures to 's photo album that my husband took just minutes ago... His, Sherry www.owly.net ----- Original Message ----- > Praise God!!!! Guest guest
I have also wondered about that, . Although, when she's been so " zoned " that she can't speak a complete sentence, she can sit down at the piano and the music just flows out of her. When she's had periods of aphasia, she can't communicate verbally, but can still play as beautifully as she always has. It is all very intriguing! Guest guest
I know speech therapists often use music with stroke patients to help them start speaking again.
