Guest guest
When using the group code, I understand that we need to use this code any time we are treating 2 or more people at the same time, and that the unit is untimed. However, when we provide additional treatment to one of those patiens from the group and the time is one-on-one and not overlapped with any other patient, we can bill that time under another code in addition to the group code, unless the code is considered an exclusive code per CCI edits. My understanding is that therapeutic exercise (97110), Neuro re-ed (97112), aquatic therapy (97113), gait (97116), manual therapy (97140) and thrapeutic activities (97530) are all listed as exclusive codes under CCI edits, and can not be used at any time when the group code is used, even if documentation shows that the procedure was not done as part of the group time. Is that what other people understand about using the group code too? I don't understand why manual therapy is included in the exclusive codes - it is not tradionally done in a group setting like the other codes.
